So, from the posts I have read, it seems we are still waiting for another Madame Fate, or Return to Ravenhearst, don't we? Anyway, I am going to try this new one.

You hit the nail on the head Euskalduna!

We're all spoiled by those games - along with Family Flux, Mushroom age etc. etc.
Other games just pale in comparison.

But of course!!

I'm not saying this game is a loser. It's a nice game which I am sure many will enjoy. It's just not a "great" game at all. I may buy it sometime down the line. I already have too many unfinished games to play that are pretty much like this one.

I admire your resolve scotcat! I can't put a game down until it's finished - even if that is over a day or two depending on how busy I am!

I am downloading this one and am looking forward to playing. The length of a game isn't a factor when I am deciding what to buy. I am not interested in the score, or in "beating" the game. If I enjoy the gameplay and the scenery along the way, I'm happy.

I realize there are other players who like to see how quickly they can complete a game - everyone has their own "style." I'm more the tortoise in "The Tortoise and the Hare" - I just keep plodding along.

Oh, this is sort of off topic, but I just finished "Abra Academy: Returning Cast" and I thought it would never end! So I guess a game can indeed be too long.

I like this better as I go along. Minis get a little harder, Don't forget that you can click on the "?" to find out how to play the mini if you can't figure it out.

it is slow. I wait until an object disappears before clicking another instead of just clicking a bunch of them and waiting. When a scene is finished, the lag before that is acknowledged always has me thinking I missed something. This is my only real criticism. I noticed that my foot is pushing into the floor. LOL! I guess i am trying to accelerate.

This game is pretty straight forward. it does not try to be what it isn't. Of the last two HOGs (I bought both), I didn't care much for "Rangy Lil". RL was just too full of cliches and I was bored with the stereotype Western theme. RL lasted too long for me and when I rescued the girls (the point of the game?) it kept going but had no new points on the map and sat in the same map location like it was stuck there with Super Glue. I found "Mystic Diary" to be pretentious. I thought the devs worked way too hard to make it innovative and include puzzles, etc. They were not successful as far as I am concerned. Some of those innovations were just tiresome. I was bored rapidly and thought the game would never end.

Maybe this game is not great, but I think it is pretty good. Scotcat, I partly agree with what you said about the name of the game but at least Youda is consistent. They seem to include their name in all their titles. This is the first Youda game I have played because I believe all the rest that I have seen were TMs which I don't like.

Actually, Youda's TMs are the only ones I sort of like. They don't start out so fast, and there is a bit of strategy involved. You can replay levels, and you can buy upgrades that let you beat the levels. Youda Marina was the first one I beta'd, and it wasn't bad. Not much into the subject matter, but a decent game.

Youda Sushi Chef I beta'd and actually plan to buy, and I do NOT do TMs. But it was clever, when you failed a level, you kept your earnings anyway, and got to replay the level. By the time I replayed a couple of times, I had the recipes memorized and had enough cash to buy helpful upgrades for success on the level. I may never get to the end, but it was quite amusing, with some VERY funny touches. I think maybe it might exercise a different part of my brain, LOL.

I've decided, though, to give this game a pass. I'll put it in my "maybe" folder. I never bought Mushroom Age, or Serpent of Isis, and have not yet gotten Treasure Seekers 2. I think those are a lot more attractive at this time. I'm sort of accumulating credits for the fall promotion so that I don't have to pay out a lot of cash at once, and whatever is in my wish folder and a Felix fave will get bought then, LOL. (Of course, a new HE, Azada, or MCF would certainly have to be bought instantly!)

This is a decent game, but hardly "great".

Just finished trial; was caught pricing flowers; figured that would cost me time. I found music alright; scenes not crowded with items; size some times funny. I will probably buy; scenes of Amsterdam lovely!

I had a game credit, so I went ahead and got this game after 40 minutes of the demo. To each his/her own. I'm having no problems thus far, the music is OK, the graphics good, the storyline good, objects are not too small or too big or hard to find........I'll say more after I finish.

Pricing flowers was the hardest thing I have done so far - LOL! I used to be very good a math but not so much anymore. I spent a lot of time adding and subtracting until I finally decided to just put some flowers in a pot. That's when I discovered that the game does the math for you. You don't need to add and subtract. Just put flowers in pots or pull them out and put others in until you get the right combos. Do them one pot at a time.

I think the music is fine and it started out great but then I got to the map and am having much trouble with it. I've put it together a dozen times but keeps telling me a center piece is not correct. Maybe I'm just dumb but I don't get it. Do all the pieces have to match exactly?? I'm stumped, guys, and ready to delete it. I'm only on an hour trial and already used up half my minutes. And like some of you, I am waiting on a really good HOG game. I have many more half finished games but I get bored easy.
Anyway....any advice would be appreciated on this map thing.

Remember axogur--everyone likes something different. I love to read the reviews to help me decide, but sometimes you have to go with your gut--especially if it has a certain tie to your life. I know there are a few games I never got based on reviews, that I kinda liked. Went back at a later date and could have kicked myself for not giving them a try! So, give this one a go and see how you feel after the demo--if it went by too fast and you can't wait to see where it goes next--it is a game for you!

axogur wrote:I was soooo excited reading about this HOG being played in Amsterdam , the city where I was born and lived until the age of 22, so immediatly I started downloading << still busy<<, but then:..... reading all your comments I'm so afraid 2 become disappointed ; but hope at least to be able to recognize some Amsterdam scenes as I had a happy life there at the time and then Amsterdam was still a very safe worldcity to live in

Will keep you posted after having played the demo.

Thank you for the walkthrough Margie B
I have no tolerance for puzzles with equations and the Library was annoying

I found it to be a straightforward HOG with good mini games. The game was pleasant to look at, with no timer (a plus) and a good hint system - the name of some items amused me, but I learned something. Would have enjoyed more story line and it seemed to end rather abruptly.

Curse of the Amsterdam Diamond is a reasonable start for a first time Youda Games HOG (the Youda Legend confuses me )
I am sure the developers will build on the comments made.

Happy Hunting!

I was so looking forward to this. We had been told we would have a great HOG this weekend, and to be honest I thought it would be dream day las vegas. And when it was Amsterdam, I was pleased because my brother lives there and I love it. Sorry to be so rude, but it was rubbish. I agree with scotcat, I began to click randomly. I didn't even look at the list, because it was huge. I am so disappointed.
