Be that as it may, no one is asking that because people actually know that isn't possible. No one expects a game like this to run on into infinity. The thing people want or wanted -and didn't get- is an ending.

A cliff-hanger and lots of 'coming soon!' does not an ending make, far from it. I feel played for a fool. If you have achievements going up to level 75, players have every right to think there will be content until that level. I ran out of quests already at level 56, without spending actual money on resources.

An ending would also have made this game a lot more attractive for players yet to come who then wouldn't be cheated when paying money to progress. Spending money on a game you know will be no longer developed but that has a proper ending is a different beast entirely from spending money on a game forever stranded midplay, without any closure.

We know that most of you have wonderful memories of Awakening Kingdoms - or else this news wouldn't have this effect - and we wish all of you continued enjoyment no matter what games you choose to play moving forward.

But it won't be those wonderful memories people will remember or share, those will be overshadowed by the memories or disappointment and resentment at how Boomzap and BigFish choose to end this game. Frankly, at the moment, I can't help but think that, customerwise, this was shoddily executed. Not either company's best moment.

And as for future online games? As long as I remember the way AK went down that will only serve a big determent from spending money in other future online games. I have nothing against companies developing games to make money, or offering free games that are programmed to entice people to spend money. Far from it! I think it's lovely there actually was a way to play these games without having to spend any money BUT... don't make fools out of players by keeping them hanging on for months and then give no closure whatsoever. That just isn't cool. And I think that is what has mostly upset people, more than the news that AK will no longer update.

PERFECTLY STATED! WELL-DONE! This I believe is the best post to express how so many of us feel. THANK YOU Frequent Frog for so eloquently stating our position

However, the reality is that the decision to end updates was worked out between Big Fish Games and Boomzap. As many of you can see, we still offer many other Free to Play games on our site from other developers (such as Midnight Castle) and we'll continue to offer new ones in the future. While it would be ideal to see our favorite games run in perpetuum, it's simply not possible. Other games that we offer may not capture the sense of fun and inspire the creation of close-knit online communities the way that AK and ART did, but it's also entirely possible that future games could be even better.

Hi Waimea - I know, that it is absolutely not your fault. I also know that a game running in perpetuum (nice word ) is not possible. BUT: it would have been much more fair, friendly and honest if the developers and BF would have told us this decision just after the last updates and not months later; and if it had been clear that all the promised parts ("coming soon" and so on) had dissappeared then. I for my part am disappointed and angry about this rude way to treat customers. I cancelled my membership and I will never spend one cent on this company (and I mean BF AND BZ). Sorry - don't want to be rude, just honest.
I liked both games very much, but I like the forums even more. And this is the saddest part of all this mess: I fear, the forums will be finished also (not now, but in a few months, when they got useless for most users). It's really a shame.

I totally agree with you that the way BF/CD handle the end of this game is a big disgrace to all of us here and they were totally rude, unprofessional and showed a lack of integrity that was worthy of most politicians today. [Removed by Moderator]

frequentfrog has hit the nail on the head. Its not the fact that the game was pulled, it was the manner in which it was done, sneakily, with no conclusion. Even if there had been ONE last update(stated up front that it would the last) and which gave a satisfactorily conclusion (poor Shelsea!) it would have been acceptable, but to leave everyone hanging after months of speculation is downright dishonest. Like many others I looked at the Forum everyday, got to recognise people, their wisdom, their likes and dislikes. I feel bereft. It is a truly sad day when the powers-that-be (and the general consensus appears to be that it is BoomZap) decided to ignore a strong and faithful following of a truly remarkable, fine, original, game which many of us now feel emotionally attached to. You should hang your heads in shame.

And surely the developers knew this. So why didn't they have some sort of wrap-up quests on stand-by, ready to roll out when they felt it was time for them to move on to other projects?

Unfortunately the betrayal by both BF and BZ was not a surprise. Last week I canceled my membership which I began in 2010 due to the disdain shown to the players who patiently waited for the expected update. AK was a fun, challenging, and visually attractive game. I enjoyed reading the posts left by the forum community. I purchasing crystals and invested my leisure time enjoying the progression of the adventure. The anger I am feeling is due to the total lack of respect both companies have demonstrated by not ending the story line; leaving everyone waiting for months for an update that they knew was not going to happen. Disgraceful way to do business. Having that said, I think of the last line spoken by Jim Carry in "The Truman Show"; "Good morning, and in case I don't see ya: Good afternoon, good evening, and good night!" I will no longer patronize BF or BZ.

Yes, I too am done with BFG. This is no way to treat people who spend their hard earned money on games. I don't need anymore games, but even if I did, it won't be through BFG.
The "affair" is OVER!!!

I have been collecting all of my collections that I have been hoarding and playing all of the mini games which I like. Just for fun, I say. I was holding on to all this stuff for quests, but now I do not have to. And the dreaded chest. Well Ba Bye to you, you devil. It has been my pleasure to read everyone's forum notes. I am at level 64 and on my way to 65 just because I have so many collection stars to cash in. With all my money I will buy items to play mini games and them probably delete the whole mess.

I gave up on ART long ago because I was getting nowhere fast . I love AK and was doing so well with my crystals . I have 459 and was determined to get to 800 to refresh energy more regularly. Alas not to be . I do play this and MC on a regular basis because I'm finding other games just don't appeal to me any more . With credits building up do I cancel my membership or not .

It is absolutely incorrect to make the assumption that the end of updates to Awakening Kingdoms and Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin' has anything to do with the acquisition.

Oh, really??

Actually, I think that's a true statement. If you look at the developer, Boom Zap (try googling it) they have talked a lot over the past year or so about wanting to get into self-publishing and more mobile games and move away from the HOS type games.

It's really not fair to blame BFG for this one I'm afraid.

As you know these games take time to develop.. what we can blame BFG for is that they've known along with the developer since December that no more content was in the pipeline yet they let it go for this long.. that was jerk move.

I still think they can find away to finish this game I don't care if they plan to go back to their damn roots they should not have started something and promised what they did if they did not plan to finish
I will give the devs till dec 2015 to rectify this decision if not bz and bfg will be deleted from my games and important list and will get no more business from me or any of my friends ever again that includes no more game purchases no more subscription fees

Madrabbit,

Corporations like Churchill Downs (BFG new owners) do not make business decisions lightly, but when they do, they are not going to rectify and change their mind, because people are upset. They have already considered that, in their decision. Boomzap has no power over Churchill, think of it this way, Boomzap was an employee and they got fired. The other FTP games are closing also, the only one they want is BIG CASINO,IMO why, because simply stated that is where the money is being made. All business have to make a profit, to do that they will cut anything that is not generating the cash flow they expect. Remember when the moderators said nothing is going to change with BF? There are always changes when a new corporation takes over. BTW, I don't blame you one bit for feeling the way you do, a lot of people feel they were let down. Unfortunately, it's business.

I feel that bf cancelled this game very underhandedly all thru the game was coming soon. Because of this I continued buying gems and playing and stocking up. I also encouraged several friends to play. Because of their decision I have gifted all my game credits(12) to a friend.I have also cancelled my membership of over 8 years. This I feal is all thats left for us to do in protest

Protest away and it means nothing to corporations, we are numbers, not living breathing human beings, we are just dollar signs to corporations. And believe me if they don't like your comment ****removed*** is the way to go. I know that BF knows that we are upset, and yet they have not apologize or accepted responsibility for what they did, aren't people taught as a child to accept responsibility for your actions and to always treat others with kindness and respect?............hummmm look what happens when people in positions of power grow up.....

I rarely weigh in to shenanigans such as this..(closet 'gamer' that I am!) but it must be said; I was a relative latecomer to AK (and reading the forums it seems like many of you have been around since AK's inception!)

I paid REAL money into this game as recently as a week ago.. and a considerable amount too. Whilst I have read nearly every entry in this forum about the untimely demise of the game part of me accepts that the reason for such decisions are often complex and multifaceted.

However, one 'statement' from a BFG 'moderator' has left me reeling in anger.. I can't quote it parrot fashion but it went something like.. " We realise you have invested time, effort and.. many have invested PERSONAL RESOURCES"...?? Why not be transparent and call it ..money??? That is what it is, isn't it?

Whoever had the final say in this disastrous facade is guilty of lying to their consumers whilst greedily reaping the pecuniary benefit and that, is what I think is unconscionable conduct. This decision did NOT simply manifest on the 18th May...or whatever day it was. Even if it wasn't BFG's decision to pull the game; they knew to some degree, that it was unlikely to continue and some time ago I wager.

Who get's the money I've spent over the last few months, who knows but I will tell you this; I will make a point of ensuring that this information is available to all. I have now severed my account with BFG. That being said, I still do not hold them accountable BUT ..someone needs to be on the side of the consumer.. If BOOMZAP are so far up their own bums and CD (crystal downs??...never heard of them...but hey?) are hell bent on turning BFG into an online casino, so be it.

Disappointed..hugely. Voting with my feet.

Just got back from vacation cruise and want to see the "NOTICE" that AW is done?

This has been an interesting game and should be continued, but if it's about IMAGINATION to proceed with the STORY, There should be an actual ENDING to fulfill the whole thing. Is it because the MONEY issue? A MERGER take over? Or just a big "I'M SORRY!!!!!!! IGNORANCE, you start something you need to FINISH!!
