why buy a game when I can finish half of it in the hour demo. It is pretty and at least the developers know how to spell. Some mini-games way to easy some harder, loved the roulette one. If you are a slow player, you might find it more fun. But if you are on the higher end of the intelligence scale you will be bored.

I downloaded this game and it seemed to take a while to save the file. I started playing it and so far in three minutes have been chucked out three times because of access error denied code. It doesn't save the level and so I have had to start again. I don't get chucked out at the same point so not sure what's wrong. Not sure I will bother considering the reviews.

The game froze going from one scene that I had just completed to another. I couldn't Ctrl, Alt, Del......had to shut it off on my tower.

Not sure if I'll try to finish the demo or not.

I thought this game had potential but I was wrong......it is way too easy and way too short for my liking..................waste of money.

I love this game but I must say something further. I do have poor vision. I was doing quite well until I got to Prague (I did Paris first). I had a very hard time finding the list items in the first Prague scene, the tools. They were mostly too small and two of them were on the edges and partly unseen because of that. I needed lots of Hints and spent a good amount of time waiting for those Hints to reload (way too slow).

I finally got past that and made it to the observatory scene. Darned if i can see hardly anything at all. It is so difficult and the Hints so long loading and the "too many clicks" penalty so annoying that I took a screen shot. I quit the game, opened Paint Shop Pro, pasted the shot and edited it to increase contrast. I zoomed in. Darned if i still can't find hardly anything at all

I cannot find the hour glass, the umbrella, veritas, the V, etc., etc. If I can't see those things after having lightened, increased contrast and zoomed in, how on earth will I ever find them at all? The only thing is to look at the Walkthrough. I hate that really. I'd rather find these things myself. Very frustrating!

Hi to everyone. I am in the process of downloading this game for the trial period, but whilst doing so, I wanted to PLEASE ask people who use this particular thread to ask questions about the game to create their own thread with the question as the subject. I really appreciate reading all the reviews to see whether I feel it is worth downloading (a prime example being the game which actually rearranged peoples' desktop icons and did some damage - I avoided that one like the plague). However, in reading these reviews, I can't help but see these questions and their answers (if someone replies) - that spoils it.

So the bottom line is please, please, please only use this thread for reviews and opinions on the game, and ask questions in separate ones - I would be eternally grateful

Hogamefan

LOL hogamefan, no amount of pleading or wishing is going to make that happen. Much as we would like things to be neat and orderly around here, for some users it's already a major achievement to actually post in the right forum!

Another game with a slow, jerky cursor. Unfortunately you can't change it to the regular cursor like you can in some other games, so even though it looks like a fun game, will not buy it because of the cursor.

Couldn't agree more - took me longer to download it than to play it. Download time approx 10 mins - play time 1 min before i quit due to silly cursor movements. I agree with a previous post which asked why these game designers can't introduce an option for turning off the custom cursor - maybe then I would be able to play the demo and decide whether or not to buy....

My review after 1 hour demo:

Level: Easy to Medium. It's not very difficult, but there are not a lot of hints or instructions.

Playability: So-so. It downloaded onto my computer okay, but never completed loading in the BF My Games window. I found it on my desktop and played it from there. Additionally, the cursor seemed sensitive to click penalties, and it took a little too long to load between levels.

Hints: Very slow refillable meter.

Clicking penalty: Cursor goes wacky if you click wrong too much. It seemed to be very sensitive - 3rd or 4th time you clicked wrong, even if you were clicking on something you needed.

Likes: Music was pleasant enough. Can click through the story quickly or skip it altogether. Lots of variety in games and mini-games. Can skip mini-games eventually when meter fills, which it does fairly quickly compared to other games.

Dislikes: Hint meter refills way too slowly. Some areas dark and hard to see. The pace is a bit slow for me.

Recommendations: Run your cursor over everything and look for hands or spinning gears. Some hidden items require you to open doors or move things to find them. This adds some nice variety to the game. The pace of this game is slow - good if you want a nice relaxing game that allows you to take your time.

Will I buy it? Not sure. I found myself wanting to finish it, but I tend not to buy games you can play through only once. I also tend to buy games with a faster pace, like TM games. Might get if I'm looking for a change of pace or if there's a really good sale on it.

It looked like it might have been an ok game. Not stellar, but awful, good for passing some HOG time.

Unfortunately the cursor was so mushy-draggy that I actually found myself yawning while I waited for it to catch up. Not a good sign.

Also unfortunately I bought it without running the demo. Won't do that again. I trashed it, but will take the hit since 97% of the time BF's game work fine for me.

I bought this one and dide enjoy it, when I saw that there were only 4 countries to visit - I didn't think the game would be very long. The mini-games were skippable and hints seemed to refill quickly, the graphics were lovely and the music was ok (I turn it down anyway).

I the plethora of period pieces coming out lately. Esp when the stuff fits the scene & is a bit more challenging to find, Graphix were very nice, storyline not too stupid. I started with Paris & I really wish I hadn't gone to Vienna next; I used 2 hints looking for the muscial notes that were really hard to find (not fussed with the rechargeable hint idea, felt like I was waiting 4ever) & then had the net & jar & was stumped when I couldn't get the pirahna out of the bowl & into the jar until I realized fishies still need water LOL I didn't like that you could choose any of the 4 locales, yet you couldn't skip between them if you wanted. I tried that while I was stumped & discovered not only that you couldn't, but I had to look for all those music sheets & sandbags all over again because I hadn't completed the level. So I barely finished playing dressup before the demo ended. I'm guessing this is about a 2 hr game & would like to inquire of those who've bought it if anything changes if you play it a 2nd time? I'm all about the replay value

I am, however, disliking the trend where a game is billed as a HOG when you spend only 10% of it looking for HOs & the rest playing mini-games. I took one look at those casino chips, muttered something about if I wanted to do Math myself I'd go back to 2nd grade, & had a potty break LOL I hate it when they won't let you skip until the skip meter fills, esp when you know you are not even going to attempt a certain type of mini-game.

It wasn't bad, but unless something spectacular comes out I think I already know what I'm getting for Octoberfest & this isn't going to be one of them.

I agree, lately i have had to pass on many of the games because of the curser. on the ones that give the option there is a huge difference. i am also getting the split screen thing. been a member for almost 4 years, may be time for me to drop out. missing too many of the good games, why torture myself lol

Hated it. The game itself was beautifully drawn, but the scenes were so dark it made finding items very hard. And the hint button? it took FOREVER to fill once it was used.
