difficulties of this game

[Post New]by Floraws on Jun 21, 09 3:05 PM
Judging by the unanswered questions, it's easy to tell that this game is not very popular. I am really disappointed with it, because it is too difficult. I mean, most probably there will be some users that love it that way, but not the great majority of them. I would suggest that the creators of CoP do something in order to make it easier -- not very easy, of course, but a little bit easier. Also, they never consider that there are some people that want to play on their laptops -- that's my case. And I don't want to instal a conventional mouse; I use only that of the laptop. Well, it's almost impossible to reach the needed velocity to finish the levels as from the 30th on. Cradle of Rome was difficult, but feasible. This one, though...

I would agree with you I have found CoR and CoP to be to hard for a player to get by a certain point. I will continue to try to finish this game for a while but I would urge the designers of these games to make some changes or they next one really would sell. I get stuck at level 42 each time as there is too much for the player to do to move on. I can't recommend this game to other people until it has a major redesign.

I also agree that Cradle of Persia is too difficult and I am not a fan of the game play of this version. I absolutely loved Cradle of Rome and have become quite expert at it. I am always able to finish all 100 levels now and just play against myself at each level to beat my previous time. I can't count the times I have played it now and still go back to it after I take some time off from it. I was so excited when I saw Cradle of Persia appear but was quickly disappointed in the style of game play. I have not been able to perservere with Cradle of Persia and only hope that next time they go back to the old style of match three.

I agree about the difficulty but I did continue until I completed all 100 levels. I found that on the more difficult levels - after about 92 - it was important to play the level to accumulate the bonuses at the bottom - in other words playing until the time ran out, giving up a life but gaining the fully charged bonus. At some point I would have the bonuses I needed to complete the level and move on. And I admit I had to start over on the last section several time before I finally completed all the levels. Then I also began playing against my earlier times to do better.

My DH actually found COR harder than COP. Mostly because of how clear he thought the graphics were in COP. The colors just made more sense for him in that one.

Personally, I've finished both games at least twice. Yes, they were hard. Very hard at the end. But I expected that. Wanted that.

I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea but I really liked both games. And there are loads of comments on forums at other sites from people who loved the games just as they are. Even quite a few asking for them to get harder!

I would say persevere. Childofyah is exactly right about the strategy to win. Part of the trick is not give up any lives early in the game. You need them all at the end.

Also, never leave a level without building up any bonuses you can. When you get to where one or two matches will finish the level, assuming you have time left, go to a different section of the board and match like mad to fill all your bonuses before finishing the level.
