Save your player files often (& BEFORE uninstalling)

[Post New]by Spazzazz on Jul 5, 09 2:23 PM
I am reading so often in here about people uninstalling the Mte game only to find when its reinstalled that they've lost thier position (player) in the game

Of course this is going to happen because a reinstall over writes the files on your computer including your player files - which is why it is so important in this game to learn how to save your player

I have posted this info in another thread called 'moving user' - but feel a post on this subject is more helpful

This is the info required to save your player folder (all your player files are inside it - you need to save the whole folder everytime you save it -

XP Users -

To copy a player folder in Mte -

Right clik on your MTE game icon (the one you use to open & play the game)

Click properties - clik find target (this opens a window with all your Mte game info)

Clik 1 time on the 'player' folder - now etha copy & paste it to yr desktop or to an external drive (or disk) or you can use edit at the top of the window & use copy to - where ever your going to put it

When you reinstall the game onto your new puter - open it as explained above - delete the 'player' folder in your new install & copy & paste your 'player' folder in its place - wen you open the game to play your player will be intact

VISTA Users -

Click on Computer Icon (on your desktop)
Click Owner
AppData
Local
VirtualStore
Program Files

Look for Mahjong Towers Eternity folder & double clik it to open it

You should now be looking at the Mte game files & folders

Clik 1 time on the 'player' folder - now etha copy & paste it to yr desktop or to an external drive (or disk) or you can use edit at the top of the window & use copy to - where ever your going to put it

When you reinstall the game onto your new puter - open it as explained above - delete the 'player' folder in your new install & copy & paste your 'player' folder in its place - wen you open the game to play your player will be intact

All Users:
Its a good idea to make regular backups of your player folder - should your game crash or anything else you will always have your updated player folder to put back in if need be - on a personal note - i backup my player folder after each time i play - it keeps it as up to date as possible this way & very little data (points) are lost should something go wrong

Have fun & Enjoy!!

you said that you just finished another post as to why the game appears offline but I don't know where to find that. I have never been here before and I don't even know how I got back here to see you answered me. I am so lost in here!! Am I suppose to uninstall the game and reinstall it? I am running vista. I cannot even get into the help section no matter what I do. Is it them, or didI do something wrong? Thanks Peggy

Could you tell me how to save my player on a Mac ??

I am having the same problem as others where the game won't load at all. Just hangs there. I am waiting to hear when the servers are up & running again.

Thanks

If all the layouts are appearing in yr game as 500 then this is a good time to replace yr in game player with yr back up one

I have an active running player in Mte & it is running fine

If you havnt tried yr backup player folder online - back it up then try it with a freshly played lo set - drop thm wen ya get in thr & try pulling 1 in from the launch screen before you launch 1 - & see wot happens - if the points hold from the launch screen lo then ya shold be all good to try launch & bump 1 or 2

If yr not a bumper - put yr back up player into yr game with an already played file in it - drop thm wen u get into the game then seek more lo's

If after this they are all still appearing as 500pts then repost back in here

Hi and, I guess, goodbye,
I have been playing MTE for 2 years. I never had to save player files, got through the fire problem intact, then the problem of accessing new layouts started happening a few weeks ago. All I had to do was end out of the game and restart and I could get the online layouts again. Today I opened the game and I had no player profile. I was about 180 points shy of gold dog. I don't know any of the 'tricks' of points for layouts, so this level was achieved entirely by time in play. I'm not going to restart, but I wanted to underscore your point about saving player profiles. I had never heard of such a thing until the fire. I didn't even know about the forum until then.
I wish I had followed the instructions about saving, but didn't. Too late.

Hi jcp - i am so sorry to hear about the loss of yr player/s - it can happen to anyone at anytime - it always saddens me when i know players have worked so hard to reach achievements in the game to suddenly have it all disappear - this was my reason for coming into this forum - to help people retrieve & save all they could with thr game when the fire broke out - Bfg dont make it known to anyone as far as i am aware - but having said that - unless you play the game & know exactly how it works - only then can you help others play to the full potential of the game & i have no idea how many Bfg personnel actually play this game to give the answers needed other than 'uninstall/reinstall' - that seems to be the answer to everything in here & i was very surprised by that at the time - but it is not helpful to anyone who plays this particular game - hense: me posts
Again i am so sorry for yr loss & very sorry you dont want to restart - which is fair enough - it is a great game to play when ya know how to keep yr players going

Should you ever change yr mind & want to know more about how the game works then please feel free to pm me & i'll help you the best i can
