PROBLEMS WITH FARM FRENZY 2

[Post New]by hbaby on Aug 29, 08 3:18 AM
I managed to download the game, but the screen is shaky especially around the borders. The screen is in between freezing and giving double image. What's wrong?

I think we should be credited back for buying a faulty game.

I purchased Farm Frenzy 2 and have played it for hours - I've had absolutely no problem. Some of the transitions were slow i.e. takes a second or two instead of being instant but it didn't freeze. I did note that its system resource usage is high, so maybe the minimum system requirements aren't accurate - my pc has about double what is required.
So the problems you're having must be specific to your computer's set-up or that your system resources are too low. The memory usage it shows me is 345 996K to 363 096K and probably increases on a complicated screen.

I experience the same "shaky" screen. I loved Farm Frenzy and could hardly wait for Farm Frenzy 2 - but my eyes get sore just from watching the screen flicker.
Thank you for your hints Janette, but I run the game on a high speed graphics card with ample memory - so that shouldn't be the problem. Maybe it's an issue with Windows Vista?

Can I somehow adjust my screen to prevent the flickering?
Please help!

I've had problems with a flickering screen in the game play levels and freezing up sometimes. The flickering gives me a headache. With this game I also get a message about thermal warning.....for some reason it's the only game that I get this warning with.

I love this game though. I guess I should just play a couple levels at a time. I wasn't even playing for an hour though....close to it.

I too am having trouble with Farm Frenzy 2. I keep getting the shakey screen and then it will freeze and then I get a fatal blue screen error and my computer restarts. I was about 1/3 of the way through the game when I just couldn't get it to load without it freezing and having to do the ctrl alt del to get out of the game. I uninstalled and reinstalled but lost all my progress and after only about 6 levels it froze up on me again and I got the blue screen again. This isn't worth the money if it keeps doing this.

Yes me too. Farm Frenzy was the game that started this all for me, and I thought Farm Frenzy 2 would be one of those where I click the buy button straight away.

But I've not even got through my free hour yet. Freezing up for a few seconds at a time, taking ages to load, one time it completely froze during loading a level and had to be force-quit - it's driving me mad. This is the first time I've had any kind of quality problems with any of these games.

It's stopping me from buying it at the moment, so put me down as one extra sale if these problems can be sorted out.

Since it's working fine for me -
I'm running it on Windows XP Service Pack 3
768mb ram, 2.68ghz cpu
DirectX 9.0c
My graphics card has 128mb display - Radeon 9000 series.

I have that it pauses on some screens when I have a lot of programmes open in the background - but it always comes back to me within a few seconds. It's only crashed on me once and I've played it for about 5 or 6 hours straight without any problem. However, I can't have too much open with it then it slows right down.
I've not had a shaky screen.
Wish I could offer more assistance...

I am getting headaches due to the flashing and "shaky" screen. I used to work QA for software. No way this would go out the door with good engineering. I am running Vista with plenty of RAM and a great video card. I haven't 'blue-screened' but the flashing is getting worse as I play. Grrrrrr!!!!!!

I've purchased the game and played it all the way through without any issues. In the past when I have had issues with games freezing or running slow, I updated my graphics card. Go to your graphics card website and look for an update. Also try updating Java. I don't know if this will fix the problem, but it sure couldn't hurt.

I'm running Farm Frenzy 2 without any problems on Vista, so it's not the game. Maybe the video drivers in your computer need updating? Not sure what the problems are from, but it's not Vista and it's not the game itself.

Must be a problem with the player's computers. I bought the game after playing out the trial and have had no problems with it. I'm having problems reaching gold on many levels but...that's my problem and half the fun of the game is trying to figure out how you best need to manage resources to get that gold trophy. Right now, I've got so many levels that are silver (just BARELY missing gold, dangit!) that I don't have anywhere near enough credits to get the separator, so it's back to those silver levels and see if I can get past them with gold. I will say that some levels are easier than they look at first go, others are tougher to figure out. Good luck to all players!

I'm running Windows XP and had no problems with the shaky screen, but, having said that, man-oh-MAN am I having problems! Farm Frenzy One remains my favorite PC game of all time, so you can imagine how much I was looking forward to the sequel. To start at the beginning, every time you open it it takes forever to load. I timed it at two minutes and forty seconds this morning! In contrast, it takes Chocolate Chase ten seconds or less to load, so it's not my computer. Once that happens, I get a freeze every time a new building falls out of the sky, and often when bears fall into the barnyard. When I played the demo downloaded through a link on the Gamezebo website, I had a few problems but not nearly the catastrophe I've encountered with the Big Fish version. Even though I purchased the game from Big Fish, I've deleted it from my system in the hopes that a better version will be posted in the near future. From the outset, I was disappointed with the graphics, which are completely changed from the big, clearly delineated animals with personalities featured in F.F. One, but I thought that the engineering would be as good or better than the original's. WRONG!

had the same trouble, followed the steps in one of the help pages to update my video driver and direct x and voila, the screen is no longer shakey.

It is worth a try at least....

if not, contact tech support.
The wait may be a little longer than usual given Azada 2 came out and it is a holiday weekend.

Hi everbody! I'm sorry to hear about the technical difficulties you are experiencing with Farm Frenzy 2. I would suggest that you contact our Customer Support staff. They are very friendly, and I'm sure that they can help you. I would also suggest that everyone update their DirectX version as well as the drivers to their video cards. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Happy gaming!

Blocky, shaky graphics, random text sprites... all solved with an update of your graphics drivers. Do this through your vendor's websites or, as I did, through Windows update.

This was on Vista, 2ghz, duel-core, 64bit, 2gb memory.

Must admit, I'm very surprised with the amount of resources this game hogs. I normally play huge RTS games with little problems in this regards.

Posting as this is the second result on Google regarding this problem. Thanks MadPoet for the heads-up - you confirmed my suspicions if nothing else

Happy to say I'm experiencing nothing but fun with FF2. As everyone else who posted... My all time fav is Farm Frenzy. I've played it through so many times, but never tire of it. Now I have a new favorite. I'm running Vista with ton's of RAM, but had just recently done my windows upgrade including DirectX, so I am having no problems.

Good luck to everyone else. Pam JS
