When it rains, it pours, doesn't it? I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all this. One thing to keep in mind is that foreclosure isn't immediately, so you have a little time. I think I read something about tenants of foreclosed homes, that there's some kind of government program for assistance, but I don't know if it applies to apartment dwellers. You might want to do a little research about that.
Also, make sure your mom has filed for state disability now that she's going to be off work for more than 6 weeks.

Try to stay calm, of course there's the problem with your mother's health as well plus the forced moving;
something really will come up your way, though it might give you lots to do at the same time in the beginning, but try to stay calm and try to find people who could help
in different ways.
I myself also had a forced moving (should it be the same landlord ? LOL)
within 5 weeks I had to look/find/pack/move to an appt. half smaller than I had, so even had to get rid ( of furniture/items/etc.; I was also running like an idiot, but from unexpected side there came some help; o.k. I had to pay a little for a bunch of youngsters, guided/supervised by 'streetworkers', like they are called (they look after/care for: "in-streets-hanging-youngsters-to-prevent-them-doing-stupid-things ,
mainpoint they didn't steel!, Only made a big joke with/for me, which of course I didn't know and that went on during many days each evening at 10 PM: they had winded up one of my alarmclocks and I couldn't find right away in which movingbox it was as there were so many piled up (lol-lol) and some other big helpers for free.
Wish your mother and you all the best

Your Mum will be in my prayers for a successful recovery ! She will also be on several prayers lists both online and off !
Not only can foreclosures take a long time *but* my understanding is many of the bigger banks that take over the properties can no longer kick people out for 6+ months due to government funds helping *them*.
This may vary state to state ... but still and all - I wouldn't worry before its time to worry. Prayers will be added for your landlady to be able to keep her property also!
