New toolbar tips and the $2.99 Daily Deal info

From now through the end of August we are posting a new game every day on our fancy new toolbar. There will be a variety of genres so not every game will be to the liking of everyone, but hopefully a few will pop up that interest everyone.

Toolbar tech tip #1:
We came out with a new toolbar a few months ago. It is has a dark blue background. If yours has a gray background, you have the old one. To update it, go to add/remove programs and uninstall it then download and install the new one. The link to the new one is halfway down on the left on our home page.

Toolbar tech tip #2:
The information in the toolbar updates once per day. It updates the information every 3 to 6 hours and the exact time depends on when you installed it. If you are patient and wait until 6am PST and follow the instructions below you will always get the new "deal of the day". However, for privacy reasons it never calls back to BFG to see if it has the newest information. It is up to you to "request it. To get your browser to request the new information like the newest "Deal of the Day", close and reopen the browser. Reopening your browser triggers it to request new toolbar information, and thus it will update the deal of the day.

To make sure you have the latest information displayed on your toolbar:
1) Close ALL your open browsers on your machines
2) Reopen your browser (the browser will then request the latest information)

There are some odd cases when a browser will appear to be closed but be minimized or running invisibly in the background. If this is the case, opening a new browser will not request the toolbar info because the computer thinks the browser is already open. In these rare circumstances, you can reboot your computer and then restart the browser (restarting the computer forces all background processes like a browser add-on to be shut down.)

thanks for the info picman. some of us were having a little trouble with it earlier. you've got to get up early than this to catch most of us unaware of the new offerings. thanks for the deals also.

Odds are very good that every deal will be a game that I either already have or that I don't want.

BUT

it's going to be fun seeing each day what game is chosen anyway!

That is great! But will the toolbar work with Google Chrome, too?

I sent a question to CS already, but my problem is that only one of the options works, which is to play the online games. Everything else tells me to try again later because the information for that option is loading. Any help?

Great idea... However, I purchased this game when it was 1st released. Looking forward to tomorrow's deal. Thanks BFG staff for something else to look forward to.

I like the $2.99 game a day promotion. I think it is something to look forward too along with the TGT.

The idea of a new game, and the possibility that it is one I do not have, are appealing, but I refuse to use Internet Explorer after having gotten used to Safari. Internet Explorer has many features I find very unappealing, so if that is the only way to get the cheap game deals, I will be one of the people passing up the deal!
