Upgrading Strategy?

2 things:
1. When they suggest to upgrade the soup & ice tea to be as close as possible, do they mean as close to each other as possible? And if so, why? How does that help?
2. I'm on my 3rd try - two times I got pretty darn far & it just became craaazy hard so I started over again. This time I'm only getting the expensive recipes & upgrading a couple of things like veggies all the way & meat & pork a little + some others from the Farmer's Market.
In the beginning I spent a little on the machines so I could meet the challenges & get the tokens to use on expensive recipes....anyone think this is the way to do it or should I try something else?

Yeah, I just finished and I used that similar strategy. Like I posted on another thread. I upgraded my recipes as quick as possible. It only plays the four most expensive so use your tokens wisely. I focused on Chains and building speed. The nice thing is you can pick and choose which recipe you would like to buy so you can buy a 100 token right off which allows you to get more expert and believe it or not more tokens. Yeah!

I also found I did not listen to the game music at the end... it distracted me! it got slower than i needed to click LOL

Also buy only a few songs. NOT too many...
