A question for the developers of Azada

[Post New]by LindaMS on Sep 1, 08 5:22 PM
On another forum, the question was asked about "Azada-like" games. It suddenly hit me that the most "Azada-like" game that I could think of was none other than "7th Guest" from way back in the 90's. So now I'm really curious. How much did 7th Guest inspire you to make Azada, or was it not really influential at all?

A senior designer at Big Fish Games (the designer of Fairway Solitaire, actually) mentioned the 7th guest when we first started working on Azada 1, and I remember hearing about it back when CD-ROMs appeared, but I've never actually played it.

Best regards,
Emmanuel

gentlegirl, welcome to the Fish Pond. Most of the time, the game that is next in a series is released 10-12 months after the release of the last one.

This game reminds me alot of Uncle Albert's Mysterious Island. You could go back and forth to pages in the book and get objects to solve on other pages. It had puzzles to solve. One of my favorite games! I have played Clandestiny and 7th Guest and 11th Hour too, those were lots of fun. Wish they would play on new computers! Thanks for Azada 2

The 7th Guest and it's sequel were just awesome games - it seems to me that many of us miss the first person puzzle style adventure games - most of the new larger games are all RPG - I wish there were more games out there for us adventure game followers. I've posted this point in another thread on this forum but I loved the Myst series - very sad that Cyan/Rand Muller aren't supporting this genre anymore. Games like Azada are fantastic but unfortunately for some of us they don't offer the challenge as they seem to be geared more towards younger players. I note that BFG has some large adventure games for Windows but as usual they aren't supported for Mac - mind you that's not BFG's fault - a great number of these games were never originally programmed for the Mac platform unfortunately. Not sure what the solution is as you can't please everybody but I appeal to BFG that there is a market out there for more difficult adventure games for older players. Anybody who's ever played Myst, Riven, Myst III Exile, Myst Revelation, Myst V, Riddle of the Sphinx 1/2, Timelapse, Alida and there are a few others but I've forgotten their names, will know what I'm talking about - bring 'em back I say!!!!!

Hey Emmanuel, thanks for the answer. That's pretty amazing that you created Azada without ever playing 7th guest. I had assumed that the 7th guest was the inspiration for the Azada series.
