With all the time differences and we're still not 100% certain on the exact date the game is to be released, I'm going to ask you all to do me a favour (favor)
I won't be able to buy the game the day it comes out so......... IF someone is going to make a post about parts of the game could you please put a warning in the subject title, so I DON'T read that post heheh
I will be sooooooo tempted I know, but I'l have to try and control myself
Pebblez, no problems here, I need the same as I will be working (as most of you know) and unable to play for about 10 hours.

Seriously, we can't lose sight of the things that are part of the story, and the things that are part of the game. The pictures in the diary were there, imo, purely for visul interest for the player, not as some part of the mystery.
I was going to say something along those lines, but one of the pages is in a new journal entry on Rose's profile! The detective has written Could it be?? and pointing at Emma. So they (the pictures) have to exist.
I didn't mean that they are not supposed to actually be in the diary, I just mean it's a device created by the developers to flesh out the story that would not happen in real life. In games I often see things that don't really make much sense in real life terms, like my hubby, who was playing Hidden Roses of Athena (his first hidden object) and said, "Why would she need to take all those bugs?" They needed the pictures to move the story along, so they go in the diary. You can look for plot lines to explain the pictures, but I don't think they are there. But since I don't think the mystery of who drew the pictures will actually be addressed in RTR, we can explain it however we like. Much of these stories happen in our heads never to be confirmd or denied, and we can craft them to suit.

Yes, but they are actually now using that device as part of the new game, so I still don't think they can be ignored completely.

Very true, PR. I believe, however, that this is a new development in how the game is put together, largely in response to how we have devoured and then speculated on all of the information from that first Ravenhearst game. Once the developers saw how much attention we all paid to the tiniest details, they started expanding the importance of those details and the storyline within the game.
If you remember, Huntsville and Prime Suspects, while having a story line of sorts, were really about the HO pages and the Crime Computer pages. It was only with the first Ravenhearst that a serious attempt at a coherent, interesting storyline was made. It was very popular, hence the tie-in of the story in Madame Fate, and now the tremendous expansion of the story in RTR.
When creators of stories find themselves with sequels that were not anticipated when the first story was written, they often have to address and "rewrite" details in order to have the continuation of the story make any kind of sense at all. This is known as poetic license, and our obligation as readers/players is to grant the creators a suspension of disbelief - that is, we need to take it all with a grain of salt and let the creators give us their version of how it all fits together.
That being said, it's still loads of fun to make our own speculations about how we each think the story works, but we need to remember that until RTR actually comes out, none of us is more "right" than anyone else. Only the game/story creators know the "real" answers.
Soo...let's not get our knickers in a twist if we have differing thoughts - let's just keep having fun while we wait for the real tabasco to come out.

Nothing to do with this thread really, but just playing MCF Prime Suspects, and there is a frame in one of the pictures with Redrum written on it, so is redrum new, or a long time in the making???? Just curious really

I don't think developed redrum (course I'm not sure). I thought they only developed MCF and Hidden Expeditions themselves (recently anyway).
From my movie watching days I explicitly remember redrum being mentioned in The Shining.
