3 Tones comments and reviews

[Post New]by bfgErie on Aug 3, 09 12:54 AM
Here is what our reviewer thought of 3 Tones. We're sure you have comments you would like to share with the community. Post your own thoughts about the game in this thread and join the conversation!

Comments:
This matching game boasts a brand new way to play that is unlike anything ever seen in the genre before. It’s a lot of fun to watch your game board change when you switch between songs and that is just one of many great features in 3 Tones. Players will love being able to add songs from their personal music library so that they can listen to their favorite songs while they play. Even if you don’t have your own music to add, the soundtrack is already full of exciting musical debuts from many different genres. Since this game has 4 game modes, it can be enjoyed by a wide variety of players. Some will enjoy the fast and exciting timed Arcade mode, while others can tune in to the relaxing un-timed game play in Career mode. This game has something for everyone and it should be topping the Match 3 charts!

Game Modes:
This game has 4 modes of play for all kinds of gamers, with both timed and untimed play as well as un-lockable modes for an extra test of your matching skills.

Depth:
3 Tones has 30 songs included and you can also add as many of your own songs as you’d like. The levels are infinite and since the puzzles will change to match the music there is no limit to the time you can spend playing this game.

Similar to:
This game has a similar style of play as Bejeweled 2 Deluxe and 7 Wonders II, while the musical theme is more like Mevo and the Grooveriders.

Difficulty level:
While playing in Arcade Mode, the levels will increase in difficulty as you progress making for a nice challenge. Levels are timed unless playing song by song in Career Mode, which is more relaxed. Because there are so many modes of play the difficulty range for this game is broader and it is great for all skill levels.

Didn't really care for it. I have no problem with timers in most M3 games, so that's how I played this one. In this case, it just got too fast too early. It does have uniqueness going for it and maybe if I was a real music lover I'd have given in more of a chance. Maybe next time.

This game is colorful and unique. The ability to use your own music collection is a plus.

I didn't care much for the music that came with the game and i have no collection of music so that was not good for me. I am too slow. I was never really sure where I stood in this game. I could see levels change but never was sure why. It did not take long for me to get far behind but i still seemed to be progressing to the next level.. Too many things happening all at once kept me confused.

I love Match 3s and very much like this take on an old favorite but it is not a game for me. I will leave it to those who are faster and have good music collections. I do look forward to seeing another similar game.

I'm a devoted music lover and like match 3's, but IMO this is the stupidest game I've ever demo'ed Did I miss the point somehow? Does the match 3 action have any connection to the music that comes with the game (which is pretty bad, by the way)? When I don't buy games I demo, it's usually because they're too fast for me or the graphics are too cartoony for my tastes. This time, however, I just don't get it.

I feel bad for saying this, because the developers obviously put a lot of work into the game, but it's not for me. I love match 3 games and I like music, but I don't get it. I will try it again with my own music, but I don't have much hope. Sorry.

Didnt like it for the first 15 minutes or so, kept playing and it got reeeeally addictive! Not much of a fan for the music that came with the game but the fact that you can upload your own music makes it sooo much better. I can listen to the music I WANT and play it. Plus there are so many unlockables, very new...never seen anything like it!

Plus so many different modes!! Love the puzzle mode!!

I dont know about everyone else, but I think the game is really fun and innovative. I had to go through the tutorial twice but after I got the hang of it I really love it. Its a good change from all the hidden object games, the music is pretty cool, standard , its great that I can download my own. The game got really addicting, I couldnt stop playing. So overall, I think its def. worth the money, its a great change from the other games.

Hated it! I didn't even finish the free 60 min demo, 35 mins was more than enough for me. I thought it was very confusing and the music was awful! & I really don't want to download my music into a game, maybe some like the idea, but I did not. I even tried to look past the music part, because i love match 3's, but this game just got worse for me as time went on.
Sorry to the developers, I know you worked hard, and it looks like some people like it?

I only lasted 10 minutes. The music was repetitive and dull and the whole thing seemed pointless.

If you are looking for a match 3 game that involves music, play Tropicabana. The music is better, the graphics are more interesting, the mice are adorable (but vexing) and you can relax in the casino in between levels.

3 Tones just isn't up to BFs usual high standard, IMO. It looks like something thrown together and it just isn't the high level of quality I've come to expect from BF.

It was a new twist for sure, but not for me. There was just too much going on! Gave me a slight headache.

I'm another match 3 addict who simply could not warm up to this game. I just saw no point in it, and having to match an endless chain of boxes coming at me just seems silly. But thank you for offering such a different game. Someone will surely like it!

I think 3Tones is a fun game with lots unique design if you keep playing it.

Did you guys notice if you click on the EQ bar located at the right bottom side.
It will send more blocks coming from it. That mean you can play the game with your own pace( specially in the arcade mode, with your favorite music with it)
And once you import your library , you can click the arrow buttons on both side of the text bar to select songs.( You also can press the pause buttons to select the song you want)
That will be great function if you want to enjoying your music and do something else at the same time.(like the Puzzle mode )

All the power up has unique function, the shuffle and Ice one are my favorites .Shuffle can help me to reorganize the blocks ,and Ice can change all the blocks become extremely easy to match and keep earning points.

And you the Combo Bar reach the maximum , TRY MOVE FAST at that time and it is a chance to active the FIRE MODE.

Feel the game is too easy? Try the challenge difficulty in career mode, it is hard to get the badge with the hardest difficulty.

Personally I very like the puzzle mode (you need earn 10 badges to unlock it, which it is not that hard IMO.)
That mode is awesome with the well done level design, i am spending hours on it to try solve all the puzzles.
Try it you will love it.

I know, it will fell lots things happening if it is your first time play it.
But after 30 minutes, I start getting the idea and start enjoying in it.
I just recommend you guys play sightly longer and explore all the unique functions in the game.

I played this game for about 10 minutes & didn't like it so I deleted it. Then I discovered I had no sound. After checking speakers, troubleshooting, etc, etc...I had to do a System Restore to get my sound back. Maybe something in this game didn't like something on my computer but needless to say it sure messed things up. Thank God for my Click Free backup drive or all the graphic work I did this afternoon would have been lost. I'm only posting this in case it happens to someone else.

This game did not like my computer either- whenever I tried to select my own music I would get some exception error- so gave up.

I'm deleting 3Tones....I did give it a nice long honest chance and I just don't like it at all - it just wasn't fun. It almost felt like a punishment!
