Just to make sure ... you got the the dowell from the band organ and it broke, right? When you go to Elliott's office, you ask him about using the lathe. He should say it's okay. Then pick up the goggles to protect your eyes, then pick up a dowel. I think the dowels are on the left of the lathe. Then place the uncut dowell on the lathe to start the cutting process. This is what I remember from the game but I do not have the game installed anymore on this newer laptop.
