Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet Review |

I recently purchased Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet and I must say that I was severly disappointed in this game. The hidden objects are so small (even though the screen is full sized) that they are almost impossible to find. There were many rooms that I had to "cheat" and use a walk-through with pictures just because I had run out of hints and the items were too small to see. If you don't want to take my word for it, just read some of the questions asked here in the forum--most are asking where the objects are or how to solve a puzzle in the given time limit.
The plot is also hackneyed and confusing. It just doesn't hold together well and only "Sherlock" the fictional character can explain it (even though you are the one who played it), and his explanation is down right incomprehensible. The mini-games are the only reason I kept plowing through as they were nicely varied and challenging. If you are thinking on buying this game, I say don't--there are many other games that are just as challenging (i.e. Mystery Case Files: Ravenhurst, Madam Fate, and Return to Ravenhurst) and have a better plot. |
