MTE wont let me input a name

Just downloaded MTE and did the install... everything seemed ok... no errors etc... On starting the game I need to create a Player Name. But no amount of typing, pasting or any other method of trying to input a name there will work.

So... whats the trick to inputting or getting keyboard response into the name slot???
