Riddle: Laurel crest... does anyone know what item this is?

I'm stuck at this riddle:

"It fastens any coat or west
This one has a laurel crest"

I was thinking maybe some kind of pin or buckle with a crest on, but can't find anything like that.
What item should I be looking for here? Does anyone know?

Ok, well, I finally found it so i suppose i should say what it was, in case others should need help.

It was a brass button.
