weights in the village

all the weights on the post are correct except for the melon. It weighs 93 on the scale but I do not get that the weight is correct when put on the post. Walkthrough says the melon does weigh 93 as does the red book but red book does not weight 93 on the scale. Neither opens the gate. Any suggestions.
