Tips and Tricks for Once Upon a Time in Chicago!

[Post New]by bfgEuphrates on Sep 14, 09 11:23 AM
Hi Fishies,

Here are some tricks and tips to help you while gambling in Chicago!

Flashing Lights – Any cards that are surrounded with flashing lights will give two or even three times the normal payout, so be sure to fill those first and rack up the points!

Free Space Filling – The free spaces on your cards can be filled with any number ball you get, but the game will choose a random one if you simply click on that space. Be sure to select a specific number or wait until you’ve matched all of your numbers so that you’re using a number without a match to fill that free space.

Flipped Card Continuation – When playing in timed mode, you can continue a match onto the next round if you weren’t able to complete it before the timer ran out. You card will be left exactly how you had it previously so you can just complete the card and gain your points the following round!

Since we each have our own way of playing games, be sure to add your own tricks or tips to help all the other players out there!

Happy gaming!

I try to leave one open number on each of the three cards on one or the other, then try to get all three of the cards filled at once for x-tra points, plus the super card. Even if I get a number that is usable if it will take one of the cards I'll go to the next round till about the 7th round then I give up and fill them in. I also continue filling in the other side and playing those cards. You can make a lot on the super cards.

Maybe I am a bit slow, but I still don't get this game. I bought it only because I thought that I was missing something in the directions, or should I say the lack there of, but I am not. What is the deal with the buying enterprises? And Spreading 100 balls? And the various power ups I dont get. I searched the net for more help but found none. How can a game be sold that has such horrible instructions and limited help?

First, my tip: One thing the game does not tell you is that you can get a supercard by allowing a bomb to explode in the middle position on either side. (That wipes out three cards -- the bomb card in the middle, and the cards above and below the bomb card -- and that triggers a supercard.) Be careful, though, getting a supercard too late in the set of 10 plays will definitely not help you!

Second, to answer Jentfur: As far as I can tell, buying the 6 enterprises is just something silly to do, and makes no difference other than to get you extra "income," so you do need to do it as early as you can. At each casino, you have a specific task. Spreading balls is the easiest. Winning a lot of games or beating the casino owner is much harder. it's a little like the requirements in Fairway Solitaire, if you know that game. As for the powerups, they leave me cold also. I do use the bomb and the poice raid ones when they appear (against whoever is highest other than myself), and they do seem to do some small amount of good, but I have never successfully used the "swap cards" function to my advantage -- I just don't get that one. So to me it's just a negative (losing one number opportunity).

Well one thing that I did figure out as far as the swapcards is that if I pay attention I can tell if someone has a Jackpot card because it is the only card that has 6 numbers on it. And depending on where I am on trying to get my cards filled out it can either help me or slow me down. I have also tried it to swap cards with someone has an almost full supercard. That has helped more times than not. Thanks

Hi Jentfur, you just figured out the same thing I finally did: stealing a supercard (either an empty one early on or a mostly filled one later in the round) is one good use of the "swap". I am now up to the next-to-last casino (the one where you have to fill 25 supercards), and used it there. In general, here is my comment on filling that requirement: If you cannot get a supercard by round 5, you should probably forget it and just go for points. No advantage to getting a supercard you don't have time to fill. BUT, if you can manage to get 2 supercards by round 5 (I did it once by filling cards and once with a bomb on one one side and cards on the other), you might actually be able to fill them. Bad news: The number of times I got stuck with a supercard with only one number missing at round 10 was depressing.

Make sure you know what your goals are.

There are 3 and points is only 1 of the 3.

Usually you also have to own 6 enterprises in the early stages and the 3rd is often a tougher goal.

Perhaps the 3rd goal is the one you haven't fulfilled?
