Murder on the OE

This really bites. I just got this game and there was a shortcut for a walkthrough, but when I tried to access it, I got the message that it's no longer available. This is unlike even the other large file games I've bought, and I really need some clue as to how it functions. I don't want to be given answers to specifics, just some idea of how to begin.
