Couple of Cradle of Rome questions for seasoned players

I am, after all, just a sea anemone!

I lost at Level 51 and my game kicked me back to Level 16. Is this right?

Also, can someone explain the term "power up" to me? How do you buy these things?

I don't know that I'm a "seasoned" player, but Cradle of Rome is one of my favorites. There is a whole forum page for it. If you click on the "All Game Forums" tab and then select the letter "C", you'll be able to scroll down to the specific forum.

I will tell you, that yes, when you get to certain levels and run out of lives, it will kick you all the way back to the beginning of that section (I believe there are 5 sections).

I have never gotten past level 96, at which point I get thrown back to level 71!

I love the game, though, so I keep trying.

As far as power up goes, after you pass a specific level and then achieve, let us say, a 15-symbol match, you will get a "power up". A little blurb will show up on the screen saying something like, "Congratulations, you now have a citizen farmer. This will speed up such-and-such" (let us say the bomb). At the bottom of the screen at the level you are on, there are little symbols - an axe, a bomb, etc. They will get brighter as they fill up so that you can use them. Some are more usefull than others.

Awesome!! Thank you so much.. I'm going to continue playing.. the game is just my speed- I can't do all the shooting, running around games and I love the intensity of the three hunt match.

I did go to the COR forum.. but my post was immediately swallowed up in the sea!!

Need a response please!!! AARGH.. got to level 55 and once again, it stripped me of everthing and threw me back down to the Merchant Level.

Is this right?? I've sent a note to Awem studios to ask them because if my game is defective, I want a new download.

However, if this is right, then I just need to know that..

Welcome Mrs Wolfie; Yes, if you lose your lives you do get sent back; some times quite a few levels. It took me weeks to get past one of the sections. Finally finished it; but it is so long ago can't say for sure what the levels were. It is a good games but can be frustrating. Experiment with power ups at bottom of screen to help yourself get through. Good luck!

I was concerned because I received a PM that said the game should not be dropping me back that far- I figured once you became a Priest, for example, and you went on to become a Senator that if you lost your life at Senator it would just send you back to Priest status. But that is not the case.. it dumps you all the way back to Merchant...30 plus puzzles!!! Oh well.. I'll keep trying!
