What do you do to make the tin man change direction in the puzzle what is the wood for all he does is slide over it?

I have gotten him over the 3 obstacles at the bottom, but I can't make the boards change direction and the magnet won't pull him over the last mud puddle. How do I make the boards change direction? Or what is the secret to getting Tin Man over the last mud puddle?

The boards don't change direction, you just put them over the holes... For the last part you need the boards for, there are three in a row--you need to take the board off the first puddle and put it onto the third when the tin man is on the second.
