using spear in the trophy room.

hope someone can help me. i have repeatedly followed the script! and have solved the wall puzzle, picked up the spear and repeadedly tried stabbing the red x on the family tree - nothing happens. is the window the square in the middle of the wall over the fireplace? what am i doing wrong. all help appreciated. T.
