Can't find the third soup item

I can't find whatever it is that's supposed to be sliced up and put in the soup. The hint is no help. I takes me to the slicer in the kitchen, or the burlap sack in the shed. I have nothing to cut the sack with. What did I miss?

OK, it's a glitch. My pocket knife disappeared at some point. I exited the game, and had to use my Task Manager to do it. I logged back into the game and the knife magically reappeared...
