I trust BIGFISH's judgement, and no matter what their reason was for pulling the game, I do believe they want to keep the majority of their customers happy.

This game has only suggested sexual content, just like popular movies from the 1920s. There is no explicitness. That doesn't mean there aren't uncomfortable situations. Heck, Buffy the Vampire Slayer presented less comfortable situations than any in DHSG. Should Big Fish turn away games based on that tv show?

sorry - was just curious about the process - didn't mean to sound like bashing

Cptduzer wrote:my question is why was it offered to begin with if there was objectionable sexual content? Did anyone at BFG play it through? Did they originally play it through, think it was okay, and change their mind?
It isn't so much that it was censorred - it's their site, they can do as they please - the point is, that is was okay and then not okay?? BFG tells us how much time they spend making sure everything is okay before they put a game on here ... did this one fall through the cracks?
There was a lot of controversy when this game came out, and BFG addressed it and said they had played the game and the BFG consensus was that it was a badly worded game description but the game was okay? So what happened? Am I remembering correctly?

My thoughts exactly Cptduzer, either BFG did not even play the game before offering it or they are caving into the people who complained, I can't see any other explanation.

While we're at it I demand BFG take down all games which reference murder, especially the Ravenhurst ones (fortunately I already bought them) since I'm sure we can all agree murder is worse than something which might be a bit sexually suggestive.

Thanks!

SPOILERS FOLLOW

The story does turn quite dark near the end, but the only bloodiness happens when you prevent an assault on one of your girls by shooting the assailant. The event is described in two short paragraphs. It is not illustrated. It is a striking event that reminds one that women (and men) are not safe, unless they are prepared to defend themselves and others. It's a message I would want to teach my older children, to respect the real troubles in the world, to prepare for but not fear them. That's how I felt when my queen "kissed her smoking gun".

Or maybe they didn't like the scene with two women who claimed they were playing 'Parcheesi'.

Or maybe they didn't like the bondage scene which is utterly ridiculous, like something from a Mork and Mindy show. It's not even Seinfeld offensive.

Did I miss something? There are quite a lot of endings to the game. Anyone find something more potentially offending than those?

I find the line I bolded rather shocking. Why is it any better for the "good guy" to shoot the bully? Isn't apprehending the bad guy the job of the police? With all the school shootings that happen these days, I find any shooting in a game like this completely unacceptable and the game could and should have been removed for that reason alone. Guns and schools aren't supposed to mix.

I am a teacher and I have never played this game before. Regardless of what content is in the game, the decision to remove the game on the basis of offensive content is ridiculous. If I looked really hard, I am sure I could find things that offend me in several casual games, but I won't; I have more constructive things to do.
I also don't like the fact that Bigfish refers itself as a 'family site'. What are they trying to say? Are they trying to impose 'family values' on us? Bigfish...please do not go right wing, ignorant, and close minded on me...
Please do not become the Anita Bryant or Ann Coulter of casual games.

Ok kids....time to grow up. Just because there is a forum here doesn't mean it's ok to bash BigFish for it's decisions, or begin name calling. You've had your explanation, from bfgAegean twice.

*Edited due to pure embarrassment* I gotta remember I'm just a "former teacher"....and very oooooold at that...lol!!!
Apology extended to anyone called a "kid" by me!

So now it's a school shooting game... (roll eyes) There certainly is a lot of imagination on this forum. The developers of DHSG don't need to make a game with all the offensive content that some people here accuse. It's already inside their heads!

What next? The game has a Garden Club with little old ladies in it. Oooooohh, the POOR flowers! Granny's beat them about the pistil and stamen...!!

No, wait, that actually happens in the game.

Silvermist, you don't like my opinion? Shame on me? I am a name caller? You referred to the people who are debating this topic as 'kids'? Isn't that also name calling in a condescending, patronizing tone?
I never called Bigfish any names. I SAID that i did not want them to go in the direction of being ignorant, close minded etc. I have a right to my opinion just as you have a right to yours, but the fact that you come on here criticizing me for my opinion shows that you are pro censorship .
I don't know how many Bigfish games you have purchased but I have purchased over 300 since 2005...And since I spend a lot of money on this site, I feel my voice should be heard.

Hmmm being called a kid at my age and being told to grow up seems an awful lot like name calling and bashing to me. Not sure why the furor over the game being bad was okay and this furor over not even being able to try the game is not.

In any case I think the forums are for just this, questioning what is and is not available to us here and whether or not we like it and how to play it and any other aspects of the games, BFG is not sacrosanct in my mind if I disagree I disagree and if they find me or a game unacceptable it's their right to send us into the cyberether but not without a squawk.

Thanks again for listening!

Don

Actually, believe it or not I'm pretty well HOGed out. That's one reason I like DHSGiT so much, finally something different! I hope this little flap won't discourage other developers from trying new things.

Donny, I would like to apologize to you....that was very unkind of me to direct my post to you. I just really love BigFish, and I tend to take it personally when people voice opinions about BigFish that are unkind.

So, I truly am sorry. I should know better than that....being a former teacher lol. Shame on me.

Let's be friends k? My fault.

I accept your apology Silvermist, and I apologize if I hurt your feelings. Ironically, I tend to get on these Bigfish forums when there isn't enough variety in the game selection...

...In the last 40 days more than 1 in 3 releases have been HOGs.... Heeellllllp!!

Thank you for your graciousness. I'm really not like that! I'm usually the one telling everyone to be kind, so I just slapped myself in the head for you....

I mix things up when I get bored with my NDS. That's where the rest of my money goes lol!!! Plus I play games pretty slowly so it doesn't really bother me if there isn't a good mix of games...but I WOULD love to see brain teasers and puzzle games.

Again sorry for my post. And mojave....I'm sorry to you as well....I guess we're all entitled to be kids sometimes....my Dh thinks I've not grown up yet!

Get back on the couch? I'm still on it!

I installed a steering wheel so I can drive it around from thread to thread...

And your spot is right here reserved for you. Just throw your neuroses into the back seat!
