I hear you, but, I confess that one of the things I liked most was that there were no voiceovers. The acting is usually so bad that I just want to skip ahead, but, this was a good story and I was happy to read it for myself and imagine the voices, as I would have it it were a book.

I just finished this game and I thought it was pretty decent. It's definitely not the same as RTR, but then again I haven't found another game quite like that one!
I thought the story line was really well done and the graphics were fantastic. I think this is definitely a game I'll be playing again. I was happy to see that the ending hinted that there would be more of these to come, so I'm looking forward to that.

That one was tough for me. With no instructions I was no sure what to do. I didn't know where I was on the maps. I got a Hint for the first one and tried to figure it out from there. I eventually got it but then forgot again as I moved on.

I just played the demo, and was doing fine until I came to the "wire piece" in the graveyard. I found wire cutters, and tried them on the spool of wire, but nothing happened. I used up three raven hints, thinking I could pinpoint where to use the cutters, and each time the raven flew a circle around the spool of wire, but I still couldn't get the wire piece. So I decided to exit, but then my cursor froze. Thought I was going to have to cold boot, because I had used Ctrl/Alt/Del about three times, and couldn't exit the game. Finally it exited, and I saw I had 18 minutes left in the demo. Don't know if I will go back to it, or just delete it. Maybe I could redownload, but don't know if that would help. I did think the graphics were beautiful, and was enjoying the gravestone-rubbing, but if it's going to freeze on me like that, I don't want to bother.

There seems to be a lot of that going around. I'm waiting for BF to announce that a new version is available before playing it again. First time, that I recall, having a technical problem with a BF game. Dang, and it is a great game. Too bad this one issue is stopping so many from enjoying it.

You have to follow the direction of the arrows on the little piece of paper on the screen, starting at the lit up blue square ... for example, 1 square to the right, then 2 squares down, then 6 squares left, etc. ... then click on the tile you land on.

Sorry, but I found this game quite a let-down after all the hype. I loved both the Ravenhurst games (although they did include a fair amount of that annoying acting mentioned in an earlier post) and Hidden in Time was spectacular, so I might have had my sights set a bit high for Poe (one of my favorite authors). It does hook you right away in the demo, especially with the promise of "writing the story," but it fails to deliver overall if you're looking for any kind of challenge or depth of play. (Even at a quick pace of play, the demo "just happens" to end while you're still deep in solving the first mystery; arrgh, hooked again!)
As far as game play, finding objects was too often too easy; there were very few puzzles, all of which were basically spelled out for you (I hate being spoon-fed solutions); and it was completed very quickly. I think I ended up with 20+ hints left, and would have had more except I started using them to see if anything else would happen. There are only three interrelated "mysteries" centered on Poe's stories, with 3-4 levels on each, so it was definitely a mid-range game in terms of time and depth.
That being said, it was very entertaining to play and watch, but probably designed more toward the beginner or low intermediate level than an experienced one. It was enjoyable to play, but I wish I'd have gone into it with the mindset that it was more a game of checkers than of chess - I may not have been quite as disappointed. It would be nice if there were rankings on these games for number of levels, average time for completion, and suggested player level for puzzles (beginner through expert). In fact, I'd love to see a few games based solely around puzzles like those in Hidden in Time, Ravenhurst, and Escape from Rosecliff Island (another great game in terms of getting your money's worth).

I played the hour and that was enough. Uninstalled it because it was boring.
I've just rediscovered Azada though and what a good game that is.
I'm glad to see they have used my suggestion of putting the link to the game on the game discussion pages.
