Daily Deal word/reward consistency

[Post New]by edp1730 on Nov 11, 15 9:59 PM
I'm wondering if the reward for each Daily Deal word[u] is the same for everyone. For 11/12 my word was "auto" and the reward was 2 "More Time" boosts. I'm going to start tracking the word/reward correlation, and post them here. Please add yours to the list if you'd like.

PS: I'm playing on a PC. Wonder if that matters?

Well I also had "Auto" (in London) yesterday but usually don't play the Daily Event. My problem is that I always prefer to see what's next in my game rather than play those dubious deals and risk my precious lives. I'm also on PC and don't have the privilege to exchange lives with others, so my supplies are extremely limited. By the way, shouldn't they show the reward beforehand so that we can at least decide if it's worth playing?

Today my word is "Dew" (in San Francisco) and I might give it a try, although I have noted all 3 relevant levels as "nasty" ones. Will report later if I do.

Question: is it worth spending two or three rounds of lives to win the daily deal? In my experience the word levels are so difficult they require repeated attempts--to the point I gave up on the daily deal. I'm interested in what keeps other players going.

I'm grateful you posted this topic, edp1730. Thanks much!

I only play them if it is on unplayed levels and I can gain coins, I don't play them if the word shows up on finished cities or levels..
The last time I played the word game I got 300 coins, that was worth it.

It would be great to see what you can earn before you play it, it's a chance you take, don't you agree?

(like in any casino game the house most of the time wins)

Thanks for starting this discussion edp1730

Daily Deal word/reward consistency

The word for 11/13 was "RICE" - located in London. The reward was 2 of the Cloud "swap" boosts, which is pretty good. They are 3 for 350 coins if you buy them.

Today's word is "Sandal" in London. No way, José! With 6 letters, 4 of the levels marked as nasty, and 2 as dubious ones, I'll pass once more!

It's really a pity to have made the effort to enrich the game with several extra features such as Treasure Chests, the Casino, and Daily Events, which in my view amount to nothing because the resources spent are usually much higher and much more important than the rewards.

To each his own, but IMO, we are asked to spend our most precious commodity, lives, to get something of lower and doubtful value (usually some boosts). Looking at the respective costs can be misleading, because we would probably never buy those boosts in the first place anyway (particularly at those exorbitant prices) as they are usually not necessary, much less so if we spare those lives that we are asked to spend to get the boosts.

And as I said before, not knowing what the reward will be beforehand makes things even worse. If I'm at a particular point where a particular boost seems necessary because all else has failed (which is or should be a rare occasion) then I would gladly give it a try.

What about the "Gold Rush" though, or whatever it's called? Could that be worthwhile? At least that's more specific.

The gold rush is usually the only "daily event" that I play. The longer the word, the higher the reward, with 3 letters gaining as few as150 coins, and 7- 8 letter words gaining 350. Because you have an idea of what you will win, you can gage your play. If it's several nasty levels, you can still lose your shirt, but at least you are not spending time and coin to "win" two shovels on an 8 letter word in NOLA.

Now a gold rush in a city where I can also pick up 6 60 coin master levels? Score!

Btw, no gold rush since they started the passport. Usually one very week or two, so I'm wondering about that.

I got "Flaunt" in Frisco: 2 shovels. (That's the first time I get them 2 days in a row.

-The gold rush is still there, (and that's always a nice surprise) but it's not named so anymore.
-What you get is like in a lottery. I never spend anything but "precious lives" in those events - or anywhere else for that matter whenever possible. (Of course, if it's an impossible level, it's different.) If I find the event very hard, I simply give up playing after a few rounds.
-I play with 3 lives, no friends for that account because I just want to play and not do social networking. *shrug* I don't see what's so precious about them, so you lose and an hour later you have your 3 lives back. You don't play round the clock, right? Or else we'd need an AA for GD.
-As for Treasure Chests, I've been had once, shame on them. So now, no shame on me cause I only open the free ones. (I have to click on the rest though to get rid of that blinking green arrow on the right of the screen every time something new is on. If only they'd kill that, they'd be doing me a big favor.)
-The Casino is a nonsense me. I only built it because it was a the beginning of GD and I didn't even know it was going to be that and not a building.

Today's word in SF "HILLS", all on already finished levels so no gain except maybe what is in the box, not sure if I will try to find out.

Question, what, where and when do you see 'goldrush', I don't remember ever seeing that word...can someone please enlighten me?
Tks

Playing the DE or not makes no difference per se to one's playing time. But it's when playing round the clock that you can afford to wait for an hour for the lives to be replenished! The lives are precious exactly because you lose them too quickly (or at least, I do ) compared to the time required to replenish them. I highly dislike having to play in a piecemeal fashion which makes the game lose its pace anyway: better an uninterrupted hour than 4 15-minute sessions- if that, frequently it's much less! As I said in my first post above, my priority is to progress in the game every day, and if I also play the DE this means that I will have to play more. And I wouldn't want to add even more such sessions!

The Gold Rush is (or used to be) simply a special Daily Event that gives gold. If I understand correctly Marion's post above, it seems it has now been incorporated into the Daily Event so we no longer know that the reward will be gold. If that's true, the change is definitely for the worse.

Daily Deal word/reward consistency

[Post New]by edp1730 on Nov 13, 15 10:45 AM
The Gold Rush or Gold Fever is every Sunday for me - again, playing on a PC. I'm in approx. day 103, and there has never been a week - if my memory is correct - that didn't have one. I know I've gotten 300 coins; not sure if I've gotten 350 yet.

I'm a retired accountant, so: 1) I "do the math" as I said somewhere else, and will spend up to what I will earn (4 letters @ 60 coins = 240) just to see what the DD reward is - and hope it's a real good one (Waterfall is my favorite) 2) I do have time to let the lives regenerate. If you only buy 1 boost, make it the one that gives you 5 lives instead of 3, and 3) Regarding time, I'd say in general the boosts earned won't be helpful enough to allow you to make up the time spent. However, I had 2 Waterfall boosts from a DD when I got to the dreaded New Orleans 16. The 2 levels I played of NO 16 took about 30 seconds each using that boost. It is impossible to beat that level without the Waterfall or 6 shovels PER LEVEL - another bug BF is supposedly working on.

Paris today, the word was KABUKI so I ended up with 330 coins and 2 cold fusion boosts as 5 were master builder levels I hadn't played and the other an architect I also hadn't played. I did use up my 5 lives, all on level 44 but didn't have to use a boost.

Good to know about Gold Fever being incorporated into the general Daily Event. Definitely not a good change since I only would play for gold.

I was cooling my heels a few weeks ago when my game crashed (they got it back,,,yay).and started a new game. I got all the way (master levels) for all of Sydney. I had 8000 coins in a dead game, so I decided to open every treasure chest to see what was inside, and they all sucked. Every boost was worth no more than half of what you spent to open the chest. And you got boosts you probably didn't need/want.

My goal is make as many coins as possible, so I only play gold rush, abandon levels that need boosts to pass (unless they are necessary to continue on), but at the same time, play as many Master levels as possible without crazy boosts cost, because the pay the most.

Surprising, to get the most coins, I upgraded to 5 plays and the daily resource center. Playing for 6 months now, it was worth the $9.99 for the extra plays (no temptation to buy more lives) and the 750 coins fo do the resource upgrade pays for itself after a month or so.

@famvir3, you and your big mouth!
Seriously, I've read it more than once: "I only play the gold fever/rush." That's why the change was made, to make sure you don't only get "filthy rich" without toil.
Concerning the treasure chests, I mentioned it before; I tried them all once and the 350 coins one earned me a measly 90 000 hats when Tokyo 86 - before the moves reduction - yielded double that amount for free.

@Pixie, in olden days sometimes instead daily event it said gold fever/rush (I forgot which) and it meant you got 150, 250 or 300 coins depending on the length of the word. With the new interactive map, it's daily event for all.

@eli173, I see you play on PC (and I mean no offense by that,) but I have been playing since they designed the game and there was only Sydney and we had to wait for 3 weeks or so - I forgot - before Tokyo was delivered. Back then, the lives upgrade cost 750 coins same as the resource upgrade. (I wasn't aware of that and when I found up it was already too late and you had to pay real $. I'm a gamer, as in I have my Nintendo collection, that's why I only pay for real money for a game I "own". That's maybe twisted, but that's the way I function. ) What I mean by that is: no, I don't play round the clock. It's still one of my favorite mobile/android games though. I am patient and my goal is not to advance quickly through the game. To each their thing.
