GENERAL TIPS
Look carefully at everything! The solution you're looking for may very well be hiding under that last stone that you left unturned. Half the fun of an adventure game is exploration, and if you don't examine your surroundings thoroughly, you may never finish the game without help. You may find some things or puzzles early in the game, although they are not possible to interact with or to solve until much later in the game. PERFORMING ACTIONS During the game, your character (Carol) can perform all sorts of different actions. The mouse cursor automatically changes depending on what the character can do at the moment. An open hand, for instance, means that you can pick something up, or touch it, while a magnifying glass means that you can examine something more closely. A gearwheel icon means that you can use an inventory object on it. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have found the object yet, however. MOVING AROUND To make Carol look to the right or to the left, just move the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen until it changes to an arrow. Press the left mouse button and the screen will change. To walk forward, press the left mouse button while an arrow pointing forward is displayed. In some cases, you can examine an object in close up view. To back out of these screens, look for an arrow pointing backwards at the bottom of the screen. THE INVENTORY During the game, you will pick up lots of items. These items are stored in your inventory. To display the inventory, move the mouse cursor to the top of the playing area of your screen. Hold the mouse cursor over a certain object to see a description of it. To examine an inventory object closely, drag the magnifying glass at the left of the inventory over the object, OR drag the object over the magnifying glass. Remember to view all items that you pick up this way. Looking closely at some items is necessary to complete the game. To use an object in the game, drag the object to the playing screen using the left mouse button. You can only use an object on a gearwheel icon. You can also combine two objects. You do this by simply dragging one object over another. THE BY-PASS FEATURE The more difficult puzzles in the game can be skipped, using the by-pass feature. When encountering a puzzle that you find too difficult, just move the mouse to the upper right corener of the screen, until the cursor changes to a by-pass icon. Click the mouse and the puzzle will be solved. |
