cannot play game

i get an access violation whenever i try to play this, and then it says game.exe has stopped working. i am running vista on a laptop. lots of memory and good processor. any ideas??

I'd check the FAQs and go through the troubleshooting. If nothing helps, run your dxdiag file and save it. Then, send an email to tech support and attach the dxdiag file so then know how your machine is configured.

I'm having the SAME PROBLEM! I tried dl'ing Direct X 10 on Vista and it didn't help. GAH!!

I get this error, anytime I try to download any of the Law and Order games....and I am also running Vista on a laptop with all updates and plenty of memory. I did the diaxdiag and sent it to customer support back in August of 08 and they said they were sorry, but even though the L & O games say they work with Vista, they do not. I am bummed, because I love the shows and would really like to play the games. Anyone have any suggestions?

You guys are scaring me off.
I had just about decided to download it.

I too am running Vista, but I was able to play a trial version.
When I would click on the icon, I would get the error message that the .exe file had stopped.
I would choose the option to look for a solution online, but got no results.
I would then click the icon again.
This would happen a couple of times, but eventually it would start, and I had no problems after that.

Now I'm wondering if somehow my OS decided to try running it in XP since VISTA wasn't working.
I didn't think to check until a little while ago, and the trial has expired.

I was running vista 64 bit, Installed 32 bit in dual o/s just for this game, and could not get it too work. I now have windows 7 64 bit installed and I still could not. So I went into propertios on the xfkwsql file in the L&O Dark Obsession folder and changed the compatability to XP with Service pack 3 and it now works even in 64 bit o/s. Hope this helps you all

having same problem running vista on laptop and all just contacted customer support... will they be able to help????

Did I read correctly...?Support apologizes because the game actually doesn't work on Vista eventhough they mention it does...?Why don't they "unmention" it then...?
Lucky for me I downloaded the trial version first then,if I had bought it I would've been seriously annoyed.
I did alot of reading on several internet forums,and tried the different steps they suggested : check DirectX,check videocard and memory....None of it seems to work... *le sigh*
Maybe I should try replacing the Windows Vista on my laptop with an XP version...Dunno if that'll work though...
Really too bad...this is the first time Big Fish Games has caused me any trouble....
