Updating BW2 Wiki

[Post New]by Kittypurrrs on Dec 8, 15 5:04 PM
This news was on the gamesite forums:

Eric Kuritzky said, " I've become very burnt out on this game, and on maintaining this wiki. I need a break, and I don't know how long it's going to be. I know that new content was just released; I might cover it eventually if nobody else does. But for now, I need to move on."

Without Eric, there is no one else who is updating the new area (s) or any news /events. Dedicated and helpful players like Eric are hard to come by, and the Wiki will not be the same without him!

Wiki is player made and updated solely by players. The only things I have done are make the Mini-golf page and add some editing when required and I have very limited computer skills. In other words... If I can do it so can you!

The new area will be missing unless players step up to the plate. (Can't be me... I am no where near there) The great thing about Wiki is is it pretty straight forward, and all you need do is know how to type and read! There are hints as you add things, tutorials, a great editor, and ease of adding things, including pictures. In a few minutes, you can be ready to start.

Should you make a mistake, anything done previously is archived for retrieval. Best of all, it need not just be one person! When you start the page, other players can make additions and edits and add pictures if you get tired or haven't finished the area so can't add more. And there are always players commenting on new areas who will help add info, so you can simply copy and paste their additions and enter them.

Anyone who has made a minor edit on Wiki knows how easy that was. Well surprisingly the rest is almost as easy. Before making additions or new pages, be sure to do a search and check the areas section/wiki activity to see if a page has already been started, so you aren't wasting your valuable time overlapping. if not, go for it!

Someone has anonymously begun the Infected plains page .... Blighted basin. Thanks on behalf of your fellow players, if it was someone from this platform.

I am saddened that Eric is no longer updating the wiki. He did such a wonderful job, but it is understandable that he is burned out ... he did it for such a long time, and probably didn't get a lot of appreciation for it.

To the person who anonymously created/updated the Infected plains page. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Also, thank you Kittypurrs, for your advice about updating the wiki. I hope someone will read your post and be willing to take a shot at it.

There are 2 or 3 more players working on Wiki pages as well! That's awesome! Thanks so much to all the players who are helping. Knowing how dedicated Eric was, I bet he was gritting his teeth trying to stay away, so now he can really relax and enjoy the break and also know there will be players to help him on a regular basis should he return.

If anyone is on a page that is missing something, instead of complaining, upload a picture for the data base, or add a comment with the correction or picture, and better yet, try an edit on the page. If it is a simple correction, that's the best one to try to edit in the beginning. Go for it! One of my favourite sayings is "It always seems impossible until its done - Nelson Mandela"

(There are several URLs added above for players to read for Wiki edit help)

Hello fellow players

There were about 7 players helping in the Wiki, but, since Christmas it has slowed to 2. Fortunately, they were able to make all the new pages to end the year as well as update them! There may be errors or items missed so here is where you can help:

As you go through an area, if you find that the Wiki was incomplete or incorrect would you please either add a comment that defines exactly what is wrong or needs to be added?

Better yet, please edit it using the info I included in the posts above. It really is not that hard and has an undo arrow, or cancel should you mess up. Even if you really mess up, we can go back and cancel your edit from an archival page. Start small and try more things and you might surprise yourself! ( I know I did... as I am getting older and new things are harder to comprehend and tackle. MUCH harder!)

The new Kaine investigation also needs a page should anyone have the skills to do it. I wish I could but I am not anywhere near there yet.

Wiki works best when a team of people are working to keep it updated. If it all seems too daunting, please remember that Eric Kuritsky was virtually doing it alone for far too long!

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give it a go!
