Cloak of Invisibility or Gauss Shield Spell

Does it matter which one I pick? It's been a while since I played ... I don't remember which one I tried before.
What do you think?

The cloak makes you invisible to monsters and the shield spell allows Lars to cast a earth shield on the party. According to the makers it doesn't matter which one you take as neither effects the outcome of the game.

The shield spell IMHO is better since you can't avoid the death angel's in the temple. At least the spell lets you keep a few people alive longer to get through the battles. Best of luck to ya.

The shield got me through very nicely. Though I missed out on some powering up I used the genie lamp trick on my way to the big battle so I didn't need the cloak afterall.
