Sell 2 pigs as soon as the truck drops. Upgrade storehouse and truck once each. Trap and sell bears along with hams to get money to build slicer. Keep selling bears, steaks and extra hams (you can only process one at a time, so sell the spares) to get money to build bacon plant.

Once bacon plant is built, send the plane for 5 trays. Keep selling bears and spare hams. . .

Upgrade storehouse once more to handle all of the goods and bears.

That should do it, although you'll have enough to upgrade the slicer and probably the bacon plant along the way if you'd like.

I have the German version, so I don't know it the terms I use are the correct ones for the English game.

Upgrade truck and warehouse by one. wait for the bears and by now you should also have about 4-5 hams. Sell everything and go on selling bears, spare hams and later meat packages until the end of the game.

As soon as you can buy the meat processing plant then the bacon smoking plant. When the latter is built don't forget to send the plane for the 10 cups you need for the meat packages. You should now also upgrade the warehouse a 2nd time because of the bears you catch and because space is scarce anyway.

If you loose one pig by now this should be no problem for Gold. Again upgrade the factories you built asap by one (starting by the 1st one of course) and eventually, if you get enough money, build the 2nd meat packing plant. If you only have 1 packing plant you might have to speed up the last 2-3 packages by clicking on the factory. (watch out not to make it explode)

neither of these methods is working for me; does anyone else have a different way to get gold on this level?

Sell two pigs right away.
Don't spend any money.
Catch one bear and put it in the storehouse. Catch the other bear when the truck is almost back.
Buy the meat slicing plant when the truck gets back, and sell the bear and two pork legs. Put the other bear in the warehouse.
When the truck gets back, upgrade the truck and the storehouse once each. Buy water. Sell one ham and one bear.
Sell one ham and one bear again.
Collect pork legs/hams until you have a total of 10. Sell your remaining pigs with whatever bears you have in the warehouse.
When the truck gets back, buy the smokehouse.
Send the plane for 5 trays. When the plane gets back, start processing your bacon through the packing plant on the right hand side of the screen. I get bored at this point and click on whichever house is closest to done, keeping an eye to make sure that it's not turning red. Ignore the bears, if you can't, sell the first packaged meat, and upgrade your storehouse one more time. Sell off the bears asap, and then buy 5 more trays. Keep processing. You should finish with 20-30 seconds to spare.
