I am playing through Google Play app, but get the scratch tickets because I sign in thru Facebook. That way my game progress is always saved in the cloud. Otherwise, I very, very seldom use Facebook.

Seriously now!!! I am still working through Paris and am on level 90. Was on level 50 my last post. But here we are again, time to build another monument....oh joy!!! Every monument in this city costs extreme amounts of one million or more resources to build and forces you to first play and buy the helping hands and do all the missions to get the required resources to build the monument. There is no way to ship all you need or play enough levels over and over again to acquire the resources. If all cities are this expensive my Gummy Drop days may soon come to an end. I maybe just having a rough day today but I am getting frustrated and discouraged. I think I need a serious break from this game for a bit as I am getting impatient and buying extra moves more often to get through when I know I have a pretty good chance of beating the level if I do. Before I would lose a life and try over again again and again if need be so I could win the level without using a lot of boosts or spending a lot of money. I still have over 18,000 coins though and so I give in and do what I need to do to go forward in the game. I thought of playing more levels in Paris or shipping from my other cities and I did do some of that to help but it would take days and days and days of shipping and replaying levels to get the resources. I am going to stop for now and try again tomorrow. Hope it is a better day. The levels are getting harder to win and the monuments are getting much more expensive to build. Are all cities from here forward as expensive and are you pretty much forced to buy helping hands to advance in the game??? Time to watch TV and relax a little.

Ahhh, yes glitter, unfortunately that seems to be the case in most cities to come. I am only in Dubai and have to complete practically all missions and need many hh. Snowman and Travelbird have reported that this will continue up till Amsterdam .

At least having to play so many levels provides plenty of coins to pay for the helping hands. And Paris is doable, don't despair!

Thank you. I will resign myself to that fact. It is what it is. I am going to try to be more prepared and patient. For now I definitely am taking a break and going to just empty resources and ship for a few days and play something else for awhile and then come back to gummy drop when my frustration is not at such a high level. I know the game will draw me back in eventually because I do still like the game. By then I may have a considerable increase in resources in Paris and will continue on. I can't believe it pains me so to spend my coins. It is not like it is real money. LOL

I am only in Dubai and need advice from the "A-Team" players out there. I do a lot of shipping to get the resources I need but usually only after I get stuck at a monument.

The question is: when you start a new city, how do you know which resources to start shipping?

My first try didn't post, so sorry if this becomes a duplicate.

I always start by shipping bricks as you will need them to build the first four monuments. Any excess will be used later. Some advanced players say to never ship bricks as you can always win them in every level. My strategy is slightly different.
Then when I reach level 40 to 50, I see which is the free resource from the helicopter, bricks or hats, and I ship the other one. Finally, by level 80, when pinks start, I have usually found a good level, using the Best Level in each City for Resources list to find a level I can usually beat for bricks and hats, then I start shipping pinks.
By replaying the level and shipping pinks for the last four monuments, you don't have to buy the helping hands and coins pile up. I have over 46000 now, but a bank of 10000 is all you really need at any time.

Hope this helps. Would love to hear others strategies.

I too am in Dubai, although now enjoying a vacation in Blossom Island, and I don't ship at all in cities where you need millions of resources. I play for coins so I can buy the helping hands without dipping too far into my piggybank. I hardly ever drill for greenies, but prefer to do the missions if at all possible. This earns me coins for hh too. I find shipping in large quantities very tiresome and since I have 36.000 coins it works for me. There are many different strategies, you just have to find one that suits you.

Snowmans strategy for shipping is very good and sound advice. But just ship anything you can, but generally following that advice, you will find, if you haven't noticed already, that in every city, including the event cities, bricks are only given in the first 10 or 20 or so levels, then blues come into the picture, later on, you get pinks added in as well. But in the end, you will need them all. Don't waste coins in speeding them up, just keep shipping them on. It certainly saves coins by not having to buy HHs later on. I am waiting for Cannes, and have not bought a HH for at least the last 25 cities, they are not needed if you can ship them in large quantities. But of course, it does cost coins to upgrade the shipping ports to max, but if you have the coins and the volume of resources, it saves in the long run. Keep at it.

Just wanted to add my name to the list. I just turned 70. I don't play as much as I would like because my husband is in poor health and depends on me for everything. I really enjoy the game. I am currently in Rome.

Welcome abbi. If you are in Rome, you are near the very helpful Rome 87.
It will become your best friend for a while. GD can be a good way to temporarily forget our troubles and life situations. As long as we can remember it is a game and not get too frustrated.

I should point out my strategy changed after Amsterdam, like Jules said. I did not ship when millions of resources were needed. Then I played Rome 87 and Istanbul 105-1 many times to earn green gems and did buy hh when necessary.

I can't tell you how much I appreciated everyone's input. Unfortunately, not everyone is a GD "Olympian" like some in VT. I am in Dubai only because I resorted to spending my US $'s. As an aside, I traveled to Amsterdam and found it a great, comfortable city, unlike my experiences with Los Angeles and New Orleans. Carry on Seniors.

I am currently fostering three tiny kittens for a local rescue organization, and they are my "go to" when GD starts to drive me round the bend. Couldn't ask for more fun and hilarity!

I don't usually play the event cities.
However I completed Blossom Valley and am so glad I did .
I had read a post from globetrotter on another thread listing the rewards which are really good: 200 coins: extra time x 5 : shuffle boosts x 5 : shovels x 5 and combos x 5 .
At any stage of the game these boosts are of great help.
I took my time getting through this city.
I used levels 3 13 and 21 (as recommended on the resources thread) to help build the monuments.

I actually did the intern level for blossom valley but really can't be bothered doing the whole thing, I just wish they would hurry up with Cannes! I don't know how those folk playing on pc can put up with the huge long waits they have to get a new city. I have been doing the daily deals again - except yesterday was Sydney so I don't bother. Today is 6 letters in Paris all mb levels so that will keep me busy. It's the last month of autumn here now so plenty of work to do in the garden

I did interm and Architect levels for Blossom valley and trying to complete the master builders. Have to wait for the pink ressources to arrive in NO. I prefer waiting 4 hours than paying 80 coins to get them faster.

I completed Blossom Valley and even if it did require quote some boosts at the end I am glad I did. 333 coins, 2 thunderbolts, mixers and an earthquake for mb and a glorious 1000 coins, 14 combo's, 3 kites and I think some more earthquakes (sorry, should have written it down) for completion. It is really worth it for so few levels

Thanks for the info globetrotter. I'm close to complete the mb levels (4 left to play) and still have to play the HH cards (it will cost 760 coins ....). Finally I'll probably get 1333 - 760 = 573 coins + 4*60 = 813. Not too bad. Have also to consider that I'll need to use some coins to get the mb builder levels so 813 is the max I can obtain.

Maybe I should play some levels in previous cities in order to get some coins before completing blossom valley.

Sigh. Too many cities starting at Amsterdam were easy. Munich and now Lisbon aren't nearly as hard as Seoul or New Orleans, but dang they feel rough. I'm trying to tell myself that this is good, that I need to take two weeks to finish a city instead of 7 to 10 days so that I don't get stuck bored on the final city until the next one opens.

But Lisbon makes me want to whine. Or just use a lot of boosts.

Speaking of whining, I just got LA for the gold rush so I guess I won't be getting any money today!

I'm new to the forum so be patient please if I don't do it right. I've been playing for a while and am in Shanghai. All my friends have quit playing and I need new friends to help with lives. How do I ask people to play with me? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Welcome! If you play signed in to Facebook, then you will need to become friends on Facebook with other Gummy Drop players. Hopefully one or two people here will send you a private message to arrange that.
