Tips and Tricks for Picket Fences!

[Post New]by bfgEuphrates on Nov 16, 09 3:52 PM
Watch the neighbors – You can tell by looking at the other players’ score cards what sets they do not have completed yet. Use this to avoid discarding cards that they may be able to use.

Extras – Cards with a + symbol on them can be built on even after you have the full set. Every time you see one for a set of that kind you have completed, grab it anyway…in most levels it will be added to the completed set for extra points!

Double up – If you find yourself with a chance for a set of high end cards that you already have the low end version of, don’t pass them up…you can get both, and it both adds to your score and keeps cards out of your neighbors’ hands, making it that much harder for them to beat you.

These are just a few tricks to help you along your way. Be sure to add your own tips since every player has their own secret to success!

Happy gaming!

The developer also offers these strategy tips as you progress through the game.

General:
1. Extra points often make a difference in the final standings.
* Shoot for Full House (i.e. at least one set in each category).
* Collect high-end sets whenever possible; they are worth twice as much!

2. Decide which card to discard before picking cards from the playing area.

3. Reduce the next player's options by discarding a card that's identical to one in the playing area.

4. Keep an eye on cards in the discard pile.
* Pick multiple cards (from the discard stack) to get a card you need.
* Keep tab of 'dead' high-end sets.

5. Know how many of each type of card and bonus card are in the deck. To learn the answer while playing a game, click on the Menu/Pause button, then click on the Deck & Rules button.

6. Use Private Buyer cards to increase your options with Get One Free cards.

Games with Yard Sale and Borrow Paint bonus cards:
1. White category boxes (in the score cards) provide clues as to what cards your neighbors need.
* Don't offer cards in these sets to your neighbor.
* Borrow from neighbors needing the same sets as you as they might have a partial set in their hand.

Games which end on the first Full House:
1. Count the white category boxes (in the score cards) to see if a neighbor is close to winning with Full House.

Remodel Your Bathroom:
1. Focus on vanity and bath sets before mirror and wall sets; then, collect the smaller mirror and wall sets for more bonus cards.

Fitness Center and Block Party:
1. Start a new HOA project (when available).

2. Submit cards which contribute to existing HOA projects.

3. Play bonus cards to increase your HOA options.

4. Bonus cards affect the flow of the game.
* Contribute two or more cards in a HOA set to receive bonus cards.
* Submit cards so neighbors receive fewer (or no) bonus cards.

In addition to these suggested tips, there are other strategies that can improve your score. Which strategies work best for you?
