Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet

[Post New]by scotcat on May 8, 08 2:36 AM
What the heck? Just figuring out what to do took up my hour demo! I can't tell if I like this game or not. I can't find a review for it anywhere. It's like it appeared out of nowhere. It's like a sims meets hidden objects meets puzzles..... but different.

Why are the new games coming out with such tiny objects to find? Must be youngsters making these games up. LOL

Hummm, should I go ahead and buy for $6.99? Sigh..... I probably will.

Ok, ok.... I bought it. I have to leave town on Friday though, so I won't be able to play much until I get back. BF is getting sneaky!

I downloaded the game this morning and played for about 50 minutes - it's hard (for me).
Right now I'm stuck in the garden and can't find the mud traces. I'll either have to buy the guide that BFG offers or wait for Gamezebo to come out with one.
I think the instructions on how to play the game are too vague and it took me a while to figure out how to get around and what to do next.
I think I'll buy it :-)

Lisa - I usually turn down the sound for all my games (don't want to disturb DHB) and I did with this one, but I still had classical music going - which was actually quite nice.

I'm not sure if I like this game. I played for about 15 min before I had to leave. I know that's not any time at all to like or dislike a game, but I have to tell you, I am stuck. I can either go to the cement factory (again) or Scotland Yard (again) or back to 221B Baker St. (again). Have been to all 3 places several times and still keep getting nothing. Did the note from the landlady, looked at the piece of cloth and read about the man who found the body. What to do.............what to do................ Really not sure about this yet. I think I need some more input from all of you.

Karen - if you have done everything in the cement factory (you can tell by the puzzle piece and the wheels turning yellow/gold) you need to go back to Scotland yard and look at the basket on the left - there are suspect descriptions (yeah, not in the suspect box that one can highlight on the right) and it'll give you the description of some guy, then click on the check mark there (if I remember this right) - then you need to click on the basket again and get another suspect (the landlady) and that will take you to her house (apartment and garden) I'm stuck in the garden.

Just wait till you get to the back room/hallway of the stage in the theater! There is a puzzle there that I had to get my hubby to solve because I could not figure it out.

The black & white blocks that slide from one side to the other.........

1st white - left
1st black - right
1st black - right again
white - jump
black - jump
3rd white - left
2nd black - jump
4th black - right
white - jump
5th white - left
black - jump
1st white - left
white - jump
and so on......

It was really hard to try and write all this down while hubby was doing it. My instructions are not very clear, but may help you get started. Good luck on the coded letter. I did finally figure it out. Once you get into the swing of how this game works, it's kinda fun..... but very hard!

Wow - this game is hard! It's a lot of fun, though. I cannot get through the chinese puzzle even with scotcat's instructions...
Now I'm stuck on the coded letter - I think I'm only missing one letter, but can't figure out what it is. I'm buying the strategy guide.
Well, happy puzzling, you all!

Well, I bought the strategy guide and I cannot for the life of me move those black and white stones the right way - I'm ready to believe that the guide is wrong.
Can anyone help?

With the help of scotcat's steps and the strategy guide it finally dawned on me - oh my!
Thanks, scotcat and hubby!

I don't have sound either. I turned up the options for sound and hit the Accept button but when I go back to the game I still have no sound.

A great game, really need to put on your thinking cap for this one. As always BFG has put out a game that is not the run of the mill. Great graphics, story line and puzzles. My only complaint would be that while reading the suspect's files the clock still runs. But even that is just a minor inconvenience compared to the excellent presentation of the game.

You did it again BFG and as posted before not even a hint that this game was coming out...Gamezebo is slipping.

rainbows...............

No sound? I can't even play the game. My PC meets all requirements and then the Frogwares page pops up after the BFG page and then the title page and then it says its loading and the whole screen goes black. I have tried shutting down my computer, reloading, etc. and I still can't play it. It sound like a fun game, something I would really, really like so this is frustrating to me...If you find out anything Lisa please let us know.

Thanks,
Jen

Love this game! I made it to the "Ladys Sitting Room" with no help. I've been searching for help, hints, tips, or walkthrough to get through this room. I feel that I bought this game too quickly because there is nothing out there yet and I am starting to get frustrated. I would really appreciate any tips on the "pins" puzzle. I hate that I have to start over from the beginning of the level, after I finished putting the tatoo puzzle together, which took three or four tries.

Start by pulling the pin with the most threads attached from the inside to the outside. No threads should cross. If they are red they are still crossed and need to be moved. If they are yellow they are ok. Go to another pin and the yellow ones will turn green. I hope this helps!
