Tangled up is a unique puzzle game. This review is based on playing for 50 minutes of the demo.

Game Play
You have batteries on the side of a box. Your have to click on these batteries and they will either attract or repel the creatures inside the box. The right sequence of clicks will allow the the creatures to meet each other inside the light-bulb. They are fastened onto the board with silver nodes so it is also necessary to disconnect them from those nodes in the process (by moving onto the node and then off it in a particular direction).

Each level has 3 games.

Game 1: In the process of meeting inside the light-bulb the creatures must move across 3 gold stars.
Game 2: In the process of meeting inside the light-bulb the creatures must move across the stars of their own colour.
Game 3: Game 2 but timed. I found the time here impossible and stopped playing game 3 very quickly. You would have to know the strategy ahead of time to pass in the allocated time.

Difficulty / Strategy
Moving across the stars is optional, it's for 3 star strategy. However, playing for 3 stars I found that this game was quite challenging. It is easy to get yourself tangled. There are also additional obstacles and monsters and your rope can't stretch too far or it will break. All of this makes it very challenging.

This is not a game I'd play in one sitting, I would get bored and frustrated with it. But it would make an interesting filler game - one that you'd play for 10 minutes at a time. The game does have hints so that if you're stuck on a level you can request a walk-through. There are other gimmicks and spins to earn more hints.

If you like puzzle games, this is definitely one to try out.

I'm glad Janette was able to figure it out. If I thought I'd enjoy it more, I'd study her explanation. But as it is, I'm not willing enough to play this game that I'll accept a mechanism that's a puzzle in itself.

So not a buy, not even a finish-the-demo.
