Dromedarian Level- Scan Area to East

I'm on the Dromidarian level, at the task where you are supposed to "scan the area in the East" and find a guy. I can't do this successfully. I built a bridge over there, but can't walk along the coast. I can't think of anything else to do to try and find this guy. Any help would be much appreciated!

I had the same problem. I saved and relogged - twice! - and it finally let me move down the coast. When the camels start heading down, you can too,
