I think there will always be a place for games like the Tradewinds series. I can certainly remember hearing about them in the 80s (yes, even way back then!).
Tradewinds Caravans has a great sense of humour, just like its predecessor, but not quite as annoying. I played the Princess one first, and now I'm playing the servant to my employers son. I just love it. I couldn't work out why I couldn't get a chaste princess to the prince in a distant land to be married, until I worked out I was dawdling too much and the playboy son was making her unchaste before I could get to my destination (you have to go back and get another princess daughter!). The battles are great! The extra weapon is great! The graphics are great. The walking between towns is great. I love the colour and the feel to it. Brilliant. The only complaint is that it is a little annoying that the places are stretched out in a line and you have to go from one to the other and can't go from say Constantinople to China in one step. It would have been nice to have a boat at one or two of the ports and be able to sail it. (this was one of great things about Tradewinds I and II.) |
