Close but no cigar...

[Post New]by SpookyPigdog on Oct 3, 08 4:00 AM
I've played (and bought) so many of these grow your own plants, veges, flower games, which i guess I must enjoy. But really, most of them aren't even as good as Anna Greenfingers (and that's kind of sad). Sure, Magic Seeds was cute, Magic Farm was OK but odd, Flower Shoppe was exotically gorgeous, and Plantasia still one of the best, but since then a spate of grow games just haven't quite hit the mark. (Plant Tycoon was fantastic - but kind of in a class on its own as you were selling the whole plant not just the seeds or flowers and running around to record all your crosses) Getting an even mix between challenge, gameplay and cute/good graphics seems to be very difficult.

I actually thought Sunshine Acres was about a dog burying bones (the graphic on the BFG website for the game) when I downloaded it. Shame it wasn't. Its very similar to others; it has good graphics, but nothing stand out or special. Even the vege hungry sheep didn't get me excited. Ho hum...

I must say that when I did the 1-hour trial of Sunshine Acres I didn't like it very much. I think that at the time I was into Farm Frenzy and considered Sunshine Acres a bit basic. So I didn't buy it.

A couple of months later I decided to buy it and, since then, have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has become one of my favourite games. I only move to the next level if I get a gold rating, so I have enjoyed the challenge of achieving this.

I agree that the graphics are not as exciting as others, and overall the game is very simple and would probably be quite boring if you settled for a pass level to go to the next round.

If you aim for gold on each level, I believe that people who love time management games will love Sunshine Acres as the ability to achieve gold is not impossible, but requires you to be alert, move quickly and take advantage of the small amounts of money and items the dog picks up for you.
