Total Game Cost

[Post New]by Annelliegram on Jul 10, 16 7:02 AM
This thread is my tribute to the General.

When General Hobo_Joe first tickled my curiosity bone about what it costs to play each level in the game, I wanted to figure out the GROSS as well as the NET costs. Unfortunately, that really is not possible. Even though I kept track of the amount of coin you received from the character at the end of the quest, that really doesn’t tell the whole story about net cost.

You also receive coins at the end of each HOS – and that amount will vary based on how far into the HOS you have gotten. And, as you level up within each HOS, there are bonus coins given…..each person will receive them at a different time. If you never max out the HOS, your amount of coins and bonus will be different than someone who has made “the rounds” to gather coins and max out the rooms. There is also no reduction in cost for coins received as bonus for crafting items, feeding pets, sending airship, etc. because all of these amounts will be random and different.

Even the “gross” cost is somewhat relative because you may receive some crafted item from a Wheel of Fortune spin and thereby avoid the cost when the character asks for that crafted item. So, these totals are based on what it would cost you if you had to pay for everything.

In addition, the level costs will be somewhat “relative” because I may have reached the end of one level at a different time than other players. For the most part, my levels coincide to what is listed in the Strategy Guide. However, I did not do each character in sequential order – instead, I opened all characters with whom the Professor asked me to visit. I went as far as I could go with each character, went into any remaining HOSs, and waited until I could start again with the characters.

But, the bottom line is that the total game cost will be the same for EVERYONE …. With a bit of variance on the individual level costs.

It should also be noted that original players and those who completed the levels more than a year ago actually incurred a higher game cost. As I went through the game, I noticed that many of the duplicate requests that were listed in the Strategy Guide were reduced to single requests. The levels 34 to end of current content have been adjusted in the Guide to reflect these reduced numbers, but the earlier posts by lady_sabelle remain unchanged (levels 1-33).

The notes after the level cost are the number of each type of stamp you need for that level.
wh = white (plain)
bl = blue (unusual)
gr = green (rare)
br = brown (unique)

L 1 – 0
L 2 – 20
L 3 – 690
L 4 – 790
L 5 – 570 – 2 wh

Many, many congratulations!
This is True labor of love of this game and one I certainly could not have done.
It involves many hours of work and note taking to achieve this.
I think this should be placed in the General Guide.
You deserve a well earned rest, but of course in the middle of the current Monthly Challenge about to get more intense, when will you find the time?!

Again many thanks and will be used by many of us MC gamers.

No, just another old dog who gets a hold of a bone and chews it to death...heehee

And, at this point, not too sure how smart of an old dog she is.....my main game is on iPad.....and has been maxed out for some time now.

I started the PC game in November 2015 to get the info for the Achievements thread, and got hooked on going through the game again....sigh..... I was on Level 20 when the General posed his question in January 2016.......since it seemed incomplete to just have level cost from Level 21 to the end, I started ANOTHER game to get the lower level statistics.

So, I have been playing this game almost non-stop until now ---- the PC game that I finally got to the end (and I still have 3 more pets to get) has cost me 35 days 10 hours and 29,779 HOSs upon completion. That does not include going back through the levels 1-20 on that second game. (I will say that the second game helped me get through some of the expense by providing a few of the Ancestor's Spirit. And I needed every extra coin I received from the Spring Event as well.)

The game WILL provide you with all the coin you need.....but you have to go through the HOSs to build coin.....it also helps to have some of the seasonal pets who give gold chests regularly. I gathered a boatload of airship items because I was always in some HOS, as well as a bunch of stamps. So I was able to send the airship out as often as it docked. I periodically sold some of the stamps to get some additional coin as well.....when I got to the "send airship 4x" for Skull Pete, I had a mere 13,000 coin left.

Annelliegram what a lot of work. The result is both frightening and reassuring. I've just reached level 65 and can now see how much the following levels are going to cost but level 61 cost 130,000 and I did that. So I know it is possible and how many stamps I will need. Thank you for your hard work.

The General would be proud of you. I hope someone is still in touch with him. If so, wish him well and tell him he is missed.

I think you deserve a choose your favourites

I just wanted to pop in here to give an update.....

In my final post a mere 10 days ago, I mentioned that I ended the game with about 13,000 coins and still had 3 of the exclusive pets to secure......Since then.....

1. I have secured all 3 additional pets (cost 2,000 each to craft Keys of Fate)

2. I have completed the Castle Challenge, so had to spend some coin to get that 2000 coins from dice and the 15 items from the Fortune Wheel

My in game total coins are up to 292,628 -- I have continued to play (but only about 2 rounds a day), I continue to feed my pets and send airships......

So, now you can see how easy it is to gain coin when you max the game and are no longer spending boatloads at a time to open new areas and craft new items.....you can also see how many players were successful with becoming millionaires in the game.

My, oh my........I will NOT go back through this game!!!!

Recent communication from Mods regarding the update received on July 19. 2016 states (in part):

- Certain levels have been rebalanced!
- Beginner’s Pack from the Mailman upon reaching Level 4!
- Private Room now unlocks at a later level!
- Reduced opening requirements to certain Zoom Zones!

That tells me that the COST for some of the levels has been reduced!!!!

NO, NO, NO.......I will not do this game again to get that reduced cost!!!!!! ...AEgram out.

I expect a certain level of service from dedicated players such as yourself so that I can enjoy my ease and be able to flit in and out of this wonderful game.
It shouldn't take you very long to adjust the money levels by doing another game 'cos you must be very experienced at it now!

I just realized I had not updated this thread with the total game cost after our most recent update from Level 71 to 74.....

The cost information has been updated in the original post to bring us up to current content end.

Sorry I overlooked this one.

Sorry I missed this when you originally posted it, AEGram. You did a magnificent job collecting the data to answer the big question we have all wondered about now and then.

I wonder if at any point you had to buy diamonds or coins? You did write that the game gives you everything you need -- does that include achievements such as dice, tournaments, etc.?

Your dedication deserves it's own achievement award.

All best wishes

I wonder if at any point you had to buy diamonds or coins? <---Never gave I spent real money on this game .....when I first installed it on my iPad, they were running a special of 200 diamonds for 99¢, which I did.....Best 99¢ I ever spent!!!! When I installed and leveled up the PC game to get my stats, I advanced the game through HOS visits and the occasional crafting of Ancestor's Spirit. Also, I got some seasonal pets to get gold chests and that was invaluable. I finished leveling up before the update that added HOS items to pet chests.
You did write that the game gives you everything you need -- does that include achievements such as dice, tournaments, etc.? <<---The PC game is not an "achievement" game, so I only garner those achievements that naturally come. I will say that I have actively pursued the dice achievements, though. But, I only do a smattering of easy, easy daily quests to get me some pet medallions for the Castle Challenges......I completed the entire 30-day first CC; only the first 20 days of the second because we went on vacation. This third CC, I'm only doing the first 10 tasks because to continue with the rest of them would gut my inventory too much and I want to have a little breathing room for when the next update hits. Also, I continued doing HOSs only until I built up the coin amounts again to cover the next update. So I'm not routinely going into HOSs daily. iPad game is my main game, and that is the one I focus on for achievements.

Your dedication deserves it's own achievement award.

All best wishes

But, the short answer about the game giving you all you need.....IF you play the HOS rounds, get some good gold chest giving pets --- then yes, the game will literally give you everything you need to do any and all achievements as well as build up coins, some inventory, pet food, airship items, and stamps.

To me....the key to game success is HOS visits --- round and round and round and round.
