Re:Syberia Anyone having problems?!?!?!?

[Post New]by dreamlass on Feb 22, 09 5:16 PM
hi fellow fishes i have had the same problem as everyone, so i downloaded directx update and reloaded the game last night, today i then increased my virtual memory to its maximum size, checked the settings on the game options set it at low and 16 bit and saved at getting the egg and then i went for a walk to the garden instead of going straight over the bridge. oh by the way i had to reboot my computer after doing all of these new settings. so far so good just keep saving. another hint is to go out of your game and clear the temporary internet files cause they bank up quite quickly on this game. so happy gaming everyone hope this helps some of you.

cheers

Hello everyone! I could really use some help! I've made it to the train station in Barrockstadt and I am unable to pick up the Mammoth toy. I know I need it to move on and get the egg, but she just keeps saying "I don't need that right now" . Anyone else having this problem and figured out a fix for it? I resorted to a walkthrough and I don't think I've missed any steps...
Any help would be appreciated!

you have to talk to the stationmaster and then the professor pons you then go back and get the mammoth doll if you havent done the talking you cant pick it up. when you have gotten the egg make sure you read this forum about what you have to do otherwise your screen will go black and you will have to reboot computer. make sure you keep saving.
hope this helps

Thank you dreamlass! I'm gonna go try that now and see if it works.
I've read this entire thread and am hoping I won't have any problems after getting the egg, but if I do, I will be back here to reread everything , and I'm gonna save, save, save like a crazy woman!!

Edit: dreamlass it worked!! Thank you! And, I even got the egg down without any tech. problems, yay! Thanks again!

Hi Mrozicha,

When you spoke with Pons did you speak about Hans? I had to have a long conversation with Pons about Hans and the mammoth before I could remove the mammoth from the train.

Also having the black screen problem after coming down from the first visit to the eagle's nest. I get to the bridge and the game stops with a black screen. Once I did get an error message but not the 3 times after. I followed all the recommendations in the Help files at BF and then actually spent the time removing and downloading the game again and reinstalling the fresh download. Same problem. I have contacted CS and have had no reply yet.
I agree with the person who said a credit is a nice gesture but would rather play the game!

Just when it was really getting interesting

It is impossible to save this game.

I've tried the suggestion on how to save this game but it didn't work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times thinking it was downloading incorrectly. Wrong. I've had to start over at least 6 times and I'm really frustrated.

This is not a problem with my computer - it's a problem with this game. Since there's no way to save it correctly, is there a way to get a refund?

Any other suggestions??

hey im sorry your having so much trouble it is possible to save game you have to select save game on menu, to bring menu up you right click your menu pops up with all the items you have collected at the top you see the word menu click on that and it loads the options you want. you click on save game and then put your mouse pointer on the blank screen box or over the top of a previous saved game. press the back button on the screen and then press load game. you can save it just be patient and keep trying. yes the game has some problems if your computer can handle the graphics you should be right.
hope this helps
cheers

when you are in the laboratory you have to go over to the desk and pick up the testube (tongs) and the bottle thats there, cause you need the bottle to go with the wine for the guard to drink later.

My son-in-law worked out a way to play the game. He and I both had the game crash in that same place at the bridge. Here are his instructions. I have followed these and the game will continue just fine. The only difference is that the between scenes time is much longer, but it does load and the game play is not affected at all, just between scenes. I hope this works for you. We are both playing with Windows XP with up to date drivers.

"Go into windows explorer to the bigfish directory, go to the syberia directory. Not sure which .exe file actually launches the program but there are three. I think it's the syberia 1.exe. Right click on each one and select properties. Click the compatibility tab, click the "Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select windows 98/ Windows Me. Select Ok."

I'm having the same difficulty with the game cutting to a black screen or freezing after I pick up the cuckoo's egg. I have tried adjusting the game settings. I compressed all my files, dumped temporary memory, defragged my computer, and followed the advice of pysanky13 in the previous posting. (which meant I had to begin the game all over again as adjusting the exe.files erased all my saves) All for nothing. The game still isn't working. I'm wondering WHERE IS THE PATCH???? Why isn't the game's manufacturer coming out with a patch for their obvious programming error? They'd rather have a lot of unhappy customers, I guess.

I must apologize for intimating that the problem I was having with the black screen cut out was down to a programming error. It turned out that I was running Directx 1.0. I upgraded to Directx 9.0 and the game ran fine with all my settings set on low. It is a brilliant game, and I very much enjoyed playing it. On to Syberia II now, I think!

Nothing worked for me but I finally solved it by putting a saved game at that point , I found it here, so I didn't need to change to compatibility mode . I used it in spanish version and it worked perfectly, just if anybody has the same problem and is playing the spanish one. I just missed the movie there but for the rest is ok.

There at the end you see the saved game needed in that part ( just after going down ladder with egg). You need to download it and place it in my documents, saved game.It works also for spanish as I said, so most probably for other languages, too.
good luck.

Dont know if anyone considered it but perhaps you need to make sure the drivers for your video cards are up to date. Simply go to the website of either the company where you got your computer or go to the video card manufacturers site and make sure you have the latest drivers for it. Thois is often the issue with things like this.
