I'm stuck in the servant's quarters and I can't get the magnet. What am I doing wrong?

ME TOO! I keep spinning the valves , it won't let loose. We don't have anything to cut the rope with either. I'm perplexed.

I GOT IT!!! The strategy guide is wrong, when it states to turn each valve so many times. It depends on the gauges, all 3 gauge arrows have to be in the green, keep turning the valves a little at a time, when all 3 gauges are in the green, the magnet lets loose.
