I have been playing non stop for 2 days,I am still 1000 off the developers record. Help

I did it..took me forever!! The trick was the damn birds, using the Additional Resource timer the first time, then the additional resource when you get the little gift thing. Watching how much wood I cashed in for gold and killing those damn birds.
