Easy vs hard hidden object games - any suggestions for harder games?

[Post New]by janetls on Mar 24, 10 8:51 AM
I find that lately I am playing a game for an hour, purchase it because it seems awesome and finish it within half an hour!

Anyone have any suggestions for something more difficult?

These 3 were recommended to me - anyone have first hand knowledge?

Epic Adventures: La Jangada
Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet
Steve The Sheriff

Thanks!

Janet

Thanks for making this thread Janet. I am in the same boat, ran into that with Awakening : The Dreamless Castle. Enjoyed the game but seemed short and I never really hit a puzzle that stumped me for very long. One that I demo'd and will probably buy is Pathfinders : Lost at Sea. My wife and I are pretty good at IHOGs, but we had to use the hint button at least 4 times in the demo to find things and when we saw where that last object was were just looked at each other like....WOW! This is really good! The puzzles were nice as well.

If you are interested in a harder challenge I can recommend Hidden Expedition games. There isn't much hand holding there, you almost need to figure out what the puzzle is before you can start to solve it. Some find them too frustrating, but I think it really gets your mind working.

This is a thread I will be checking in on because if I buy a game I'd like to get a lot of gameplay out of it. So I'll be interested in seeing the recommendations that come in.

Are you looking for long games or hard games? Or long, hard games?

I found the story of Epic Adventures: La Jangada to be very interesting, but aggravating. The items are impossible to find, and that does not make for a fun game, to me. Don't play this game if you don't care about stories, for this game is all about the story. I found myself skipping through as much of the frustrating play time as possible just to see more story. Never had that happen in any other game!

Steve the Sheriff is really good, actually I plan to buy this someday, but as of yet, I have not played it through.

I'll come back and give you some suggestions once I hear back from you Also, if you could post some games you really enjoyed, that will help, too.

Ihog adventure games I would reccomment Nightfall Mysteries: Curse of the Opera. It took me a while to finish. I thought it was well worth the buy.
I have been playing Steve the Sheriff but I have not finished it yet so I have no idea on a final length but so far is good. Return to Ravenhearst was a good length too.

Mishap: An accidential Haunting was really good too. It is more of a HOG but there is so much to explore and some good mini games.

Welcome janetls!!! MCF Madame Fate is quite trying at times, but worth the fun!
I suggest you keep trying the games, before you purchase. You will get a pretty good idea. I have tried some games and if I can't figure out what to do within 20 minutes, I just uninstall and move on. So if those are the type games you want, you WILL find them! Happy gaming, and welcome again!!

janetls, welcome to the Fish Pond. Mystery Case Files Madame Fate is my #1 favorite game. Great length, excellent puzzles and mini games, and good replayability. The other game I'd recommend is Hidden Expedition Amazon.
... Happy Gaming!!

A few good IHOG's would be:

MCF Return to Ravenhurst
MCF Dire Grove
MCF Huntsville: Detective Training
Penny Dreadfuls Sweeny Todd
Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe, Murders in te Rue Morgue
Trapped: The Abduction

Those should get you started

Is nobody going to let her know she should remove her e-mail address?

Also, I'd like to know who told you Steve the Sherrif is hard?

La Jangada is quite long AND quite hard. Some sadist must've dreamt up that scene in the dark jungle looking for mushrooms! Murders in the Rue Morgue is a good length & fairly challenging, & so is Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy. The Tudors was, too.

Brink of Conciousness is pretty long and I skipped some puzzles which I hardly ever do. For a different kind of challenge you might want to try Royal Envoy (the original, not 2). It is a building/strategy/TM game, with the emphasis on the strategy of which buildings will accomplish your goals. You could play this game for a month, easy. I bought the 9 game, can't remember it's name, cause the puzzles seemed pretty good, but I haven't played it yet. The Sleepy Hollow game is supposed to be long, but mostly HOG scenes.

mystery of persian carpet even though BF has it classed as a hidden object game it's not like the hound of baskervilles HOPA. It does have H O scenes which has tiny objects. It's more of an adventure game (I have played it and I find it hard to class).
It's not a great game though although it is harder.

What is it about the games you find easy? Is it the actual H O scenes or the other bits - puzzles, knowing what to do next?

I don't find HOPAs hard. The one that did really challenge me was MCF Escape from ravenhearst (not the others).

steve the sheriff isn't hard!

If you want hard games, I'd start looking at some large file games, that's what I did when I found some HOPAs were easy and I love puzzles anyway.
