NEW Strategy Guide

[Post New]by Annelliegram on Jan 24, 17 10:34 AM
Several people have approached me with requests that I work on a new, improved, updated version of the Strategy Guide. Until now, I have (quite vocally) refused to take on the endeavor. However, I ate my words and started to type…what follows is the result of that typing.

First and foremost…I entreat each player to NOT use this thread to post questions or copy a long post and then put a “thumbs up” or say “this is helpful info.” The main reason the current Strategy Guide needs to be updated is, of course, to replace some of the outdated info…but, it has also become riddled with comments, inappropriate posts (removed by moderators), and questions. Please, please, please help us keep this as a good research tool.

Second, this could Guide could not have been done without the help of others. Acknowledgments follow in the next post.

Third, the original Strategy Guide is located here: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/274420.page

Addl note
: In several places within this Guide, you will see references to other sites/locations (as the one for the original Strategy Guide above). They will all be in that light blue color to identify them as a place for additional info. However, these are not "clickable links" .... you will need to copy and paste the location in your browser and go to the site manually.

DISCLAIMER: If you continue to read this thread, there will be many “spoilers” listed. If you want to remain in the dark about the game…..if you want to discover this info for yourself…..then it probably is best to discontinue reading at this point.

With the above said...let us begin..

Acknowledgment Page

As always, it is important to list acknowledgments…… Lady_Sabelle (who is no longer posting to the forum) and silver_hawk (as her ghost writer in many of her later posts) did a marvelous job with our original Strategy Guide. Several others continued the quests when she ceased to post regularly – thanks to: medusa2468 and Toria_Valkyrie for your efforts and info.

To avoid duplication of information, there will be links to various threads other players have posted…..thanks to apg, Astra02, apollogold, cbtx, datsalotta, napoeon, susiewastaken, tesskw, TiramaSue, and whitebutterfly54.

Armerige reminded me I had forgotten some info about Trina. This has been added as well as additional content to The Archivist section.

Thanks to Devilinwales for finding a typo on page 1....sigh, I was just beginning, too!

Thanks to Cblilie for noticing a typo in the HOS section.

Thanks to whitebutterfly54 for alerting me to the drastic changes for the lower/first levels.

Thanks to TiramaSue for the info that Mini-Events are available at Level 4.

Thanks to mdpetdoc for noticing the error on the 24-hour timing of Time is Money Achievement (mentioned in the Achievement section).

Thanks to lostinwyo for asking about the books held by the Gargoyle in the private room. Information about the books/albums has been added to the Seasonal Events section on page 2.

Thanks to lilredhood for the info about Omnipresent in Player Profile and Achievements.

Thanks to napoeon for the awesome "help" find at midnightcastle.zendesk (browser info located on post #4 of this thread -- 2 posts down)

Thanks to Anharion for the information about the Side Quests being available at the end of Level 76.

Thanks to GulfCoastGuppy for noticing an error in the Airship paragraph on page 2.

A BIG thank you to bfgPanthalassa for linking this to the Helpful Links page!!!!!

Welcome to Midnight Castle and to our Forum!

According to Midnight-Castle Wiki, Midnight Castle was launched for the PC on December 20, 2013, and released as a separate version for the iPad on March 20, 2014. (Dec 20, 2013 is the date the beta version was released. According to Big Fish's Top 100 Downloadable PC Games pages, Midnight Castle was released on Jan. 22, 2014.)

There are now 3 platforms on which Midnight Castle can be played: PC, iOS, and Kindle/Android.

These platforms cannot co-mingle…..all of us can post to the forum together, but each of us can only interact with players of the same platform within the game. PC players usually get new content pushed to them first. Generally, iOS and Kindle players receive the same updates within 2 to 7 days after PC players.

If you start playing Midnight Castle on a PC, and later want to start playing on an iPad, you can certainly download the game to the iPad, but you cannot play your PC game on your iPad. Nor can you transfer your PC game to your iPad.

Before continuing with the rest of the content…..I do want to insert a bit of information about the Forum in general…..

1. We are a very vocal bunch of players. And some are very passionate about this game. The Developers have responded to many of our pleas, and remained firm on some changes we do not like. Most people who post to the forum are willing to help in ways that will constantly amaze you. We try to express ourselves in a respectable manner. However, sometimes a post is misinterpreted or poorly worded (we have no tone of voice to assist us here), and the Moderators will insert posts to remind us of the forum rules.

2. No one in the Forum can assist with a technical issue. Technical issues can only be resolved by using the link at the bottom right side of each page in the Forum -- under Get Help, then Customer Support (first item listed). Many players will post about technical issues to warn others or to see if others are experiencing the same issue before they submit a ticket.

3. The Moderators are here as our advocates. They frequently use our posts to alert the Developers of issues we are experiencing. They also pass on our comments and suggestions that are posted to various threads. Theirs is an enormous job……we do not thank them enough. Please allow me to take the opportunity to express our gratitude for all of their efforts!

Currently, there are many, many helps already available to you for enhancing, explaining, and assisting with your game play. Some of those helps are as follows:

Helpful Links for Midnight Castle – this link is on the first page of the forum. It contains many, many threads posted by your fellow players.

Tips and Tricks – these are also listed on the Helpful Links page (under Tips, Tricks and Guides – Midnight Castle Tips and Tricks). These are tips provided by the Developers of the game, and they include pictures. Of note, you can also access this site from the game itself by clicking on the gear at the top right of your screen….then click on “Help” …. Then “Tips and Tricks.”

Because the Tips and Tricks contain so much info, I will follow the order and headings for this initial content. That order is as follows:
*Getting Started
*User Interface
*Hidden-Object Puzzles
*Questing
*Unlocks
*Crafting Items and Pets
*The Inventory
*Friends
*Player Profile and Achievements
*The Airship Tower ...page 2
*The Fortune Wheel
*Morphing Flowers
*The Archivist
*New Areas
*Tournaments
*Seasonal Events

Additional sections not included in the Tips and Tricks:
*Trina and the Private Room
*Mini-events and Castle Challenges
*Amulets
*Puzzles
*Strategy ... page 3
*Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
*Quests to Level Up

Addl note: BFG has created an awesome help area that explains a great deal about the game and has videos! Check it out at: https://midnightcastle.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/115000561888 -Gameplay <<Copy and paste in your browser and remove the space after the 888 (I had to insert it so an emoji would not appear instead of the link)

Getting Started– The game starts on the Castle Vicinity and you get introduced to Prof. Pinfeathers (the Crow). Each new day in the Castle starts at midnight GMT, so it will vary based on your time zone. When the new day rolls, you are presented with 3 gift boxes….you choose 1 and will receive coins, a diamond, or a unique stamp. These “gifts” are presented in increasing increments up to 5 days. Then it reverts back to the 50 coin increment:
50 coins / 1 diamond / 1 unique stamp
200 coins / 1 diamond / 1 unique stamp
500 coins / 2 diamonds / 1 unique stamp
800 coins / 2 diamonds / 1 unique stamp
1500 coins / 5 diamonds / 1 unique stamp

Prof. Pinfeathers will always be on the left of your screen with quests for you to follow. This is how you advance (level up) in the game.

As you progress in the game, you will periodically be presented with messages that you need to download the next part to continue. This is to accommodate those players who have a slow Internet connection, or have a limit to the amount of data they can download each day. It CAN be a bit annoying to be “into” the game only to be delayed a few minutes while the next “chunk” downloads to your device. However, if you have a strong Internet connection or no monthly data limit, you can download the entire game and it will just continue to play out until you reach the maximum game content that has been released (that is currently at Level 78, with 2470/6240 experience points toward the next level). If you want to download the full game content…..click on your gear in the upper right corner of your game, then select “Download Full Content.” It will tell you the size of the remaining content and you can either accept that download or X out of the screen.

Please try (it will be difficult) to go through the game at a steady, slow pace. There currently is no place to go once you reach game content end, so there is no real hurry to get there. Take time to enjoy all the animation and amazing graphics the Developers have incorporated into the scenes. And, take time to read the content above the Prof. Pinfeathers character quests because: As you advance in the game, the characters move around. The scenes also change, and reading the storyline will help explain some of these movements/changes.

However, if you forget to read as you go along, the complete storyline is available here: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/898733.page

User Interface – Some of the items will show on all locations/pages/rooms as you advance in the game. The Gnome will always be toward the bottom on the left of the screen……your pet will always be on the bottom left……The goal, inventory, laboratory, map will present along the bottom right of your screen. And just above these icons will be a “pull out” icon where you will see the icons for private room, tournaments, castle challenges, social (friends), mini-events, and amulets. During the Seasonal events, your Ghost Book, Snow Globe Album, or Egg Album will also be published to this area.

Some significant milestones:
Level 3: The Fortune Wheel (Castle Entry) is available
Level 4: Get Beginner’s pack with 10 diamonds; Gentleman and Lady avatars are unlocked
Level 4: Mini-Event feature is unlocked
Level 4: The Dice Table (in Tavern) is available
Level 5: Game directs you to open the Airship Tower -- of note, it CAN be opened earlier
Level 5: You will be introduced to the “Laboratory”
Level 6: Just John arrives to introduce the friends aspect of the game
Level 7: You get your first pet, Griffin (all others must either be crafted or achieved)
Level 8: You can now participate in Tournaments (currently this feature is disabled)
Level 9: The Amulet feature is introduced
Level 10: Daily Quest Gnome and Castle Challenges are available
Level 11: Puzzle feature is unlocked
Level 13: Trina and the private room are available

Hidden-Object Puzzles – These are the “scenes” or the main object of the game. You open the scenes to find the objects hidden in plain sight. There are “levels” to each scene…..the first time you open it, there will be 6 items to find. Gradually, more items will be listed for you to find, with a maximum of 22 items displayed.

As of June 13, 2016, update, there were 8 “levels” to each room:
*0 - 75,000 -- 6 items -- 10 coin -- 30 sec recharge -- enter early for free ----Note: Silhouette Mode is unlocked at 75,000 -- Bonus: 20 coins when level up
*75,001 - 150,000 -- 6 items -- 10 coin -- 90 sec recharge -- enter early for free ---- Note: Mirror Mode is unlocked at 150,000 -- Bonus: 30 coins when level up
*150,001 - 200,000 -- 8 items -- 11 coin -- 2 min recharge -- enter early for free ---- Note: ++Night Mode unlocked at 200,000 -- Bonus: 40 coins when level up
*200,001 - 250,000 -- 10 items -- 13 coin -- 2 min; 30 sec recharge -- enter early for free -- Bonus: 50 coins when level up
*250,001 - 500,000 -- 12 items -- 15 coin -- 5 min recharge -- enter early for 1 diamond -- Bonus: 100 coins when level up
*500,001 - 2,500,000 -- 14 items -- 20 coin -- 10 min recharge -- enter early for 2 diamonds -- Bonus: 150 coins when level up
*2,500,001 - 10,000, 000 -- 18 items -- 30 coin -- 30 min recharge -- enter early for 3 diamonds -- Bonus: 200 coins when level up
*10,000,001 is max amount -- 22 items -- 50 coin -- 1 hr recharge -- enter early for 5 diamonds

++Some people were physically bothered by the night mode feature of the game. The developers have allowed you to disable this feature by clicking on the gear at the top of your game page. Select “Additional Settings” then select the amber box next to “disable night mode” to put a check mark in the box and disable the feature. Click x in the upper right corner to close the boxes.

When you complete the scene, the Leaderboard or Statistics screen will show your score, your ranking in the player list, how far you are toward the max level, your coin reward, and what you have found. Your placement in the leader list does not impact your progress in the game. It is provided so you can see how you fair in relation to your friends on your social page. There are only 6 places that show, so if 5 of your friends have higher scores than you do, you will be in 6th place.

You can choose to go as fast as you can to find the objects, hoping to level up faster and get more coins. You can choose to go very, very slowly to stretch out the time it takes you to find things to slow down the leveling up so you can return to the room sooner. Or, you can do a combination of both. There is no right or wrong way to approach this ….. it is purely your own personal strategy.

Additional note about the "scoring" on the Leaderboard: When you are in the HOS, there is a slider bar at the top left of the screen. As you find the items, the indicator on the bar will move toward the left. To get a high score, you would want to find the items in a rhythmical manner so the slider bar does not completely go away (and the bar slides faster as you get toward the end of the item collection). You also need to find the items quickly......so a good score is a combination of rhythm and speed.

When you complete the HOS, you will receive coins (amount will depend on your level within the HOS), an airship item, and one of the following: 15 coins, shard, HOS item. Sometimes when completing the HOS, you will also receive a bag of pet food, a stamp, or a Gift for a Friend. Sometimes you will also receive an Energy Unit. Because the HOS is the source for your airship items, stamps, and pet food, it is important to visit them frequently to get these items.

The speed with which you complete the HOS has no bearing on what you receive (item, coin, shard) upon completion.

In addition to the HOSs on each location, you will also be opening other areas that are called Zoom Zones. These are areas that you use various HOS items to open and get another item from inside. Further into the game, some of the Zoom Zones (ZZ) will require one or more item located in a ZZ to open it. For instance, the Astral Lamp is one of the first ZZs you open in the game. It opens with a Winged Amulet (found in the Broken Carriage). Inside, you will find: Obsidian Whirlwind, Demonic Ring, Dragon’s Fang. The Dragon’s Fang is one of the items needed to open the Wooden Panel (ZZ) in the Elvyn Forest – Tree Top.

All of the in-game items to be found and used in the game to open ZZs and craft items can be found in the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/413647.page

If you want to know how many coins or shards an item is worth, you can get that info from the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/553519.page

Many of the HOSs contain some awesome interactive items. These interactive objects were discussed in the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/20/723764.page#6504230

Questing – There are several types of quests in the game as you level up……they will be listed in the order in which they show up in the game:

**Prof. Pinfeathers quests – This is how you “level up” in the game. Prof. Pinfeathers will send you to various characters to assist them with finding items or crafting items. As you complete these quests, you receive coins and “experience points” that move you up within the levels. Initially, the levels go quite quickly and are very inexpensive. However, as you advance in the game, they become more complex and cost you lots of coins and inventory to complete.

**Daily Quests – These are the “Gnome” quests and they are explained in more detail further along in this Guide….under the heading The Archivist

**Trina’s Quests – Trina was introduced after the developers created their Tips and Tricks, so she is not addressed by them on that site. These quests will be explained later in the section titled Trina and the Private Room

**Side Quests – These are introduced in the game at Level 68/69. To avoid confusion, they will be discussed at the place in the Character Quest listing where they enter the game play. These are addressed in more detail when you get to Level 69 in the questing list.

The most important thing to remember about the various quest types is that only the Prof. Pinfeather quests will enable you to level up within the game. The Daily Quests, Trina’s Quest, and (to some degree) the Side Quests are purely optional and can be ignored.

Unlocks – At various stages in the game, you will be presented with a “bubble” indicating that an area/item needs to be unlocked. Sometimes only coins are required; sometimes you must be at a certain level; sometimes you need to be at a certain level, pay a designated amount of coins, AND provide an item from the game. These bubbles are presented so you will know that there is an area coming up where you will need a boatload of coins and possibly an item.

While you CAN click on the bubble when you have met the criteria, I have found that the game will go more smoothly if you patiently wait for the game to direct you to that area. Players frequently post that they are having problems opening an area when it turns out that they were trying to click on a bubble before the game sends them there. It is only natural to want to open a new area as soon as you can because the graphics in this game are absolutely amazing. But, learning patience early will go a long way to dispelling frustration.

Also, by opening one of these bubbles before the game directs you, you may run out of coins to continue with your current quests.

Crafting Items and Pets – As stated earlier, the Laboratory becomes available/is introduced at Level 5. On the left side of the page, you will see a listing of “Items” that can be crafted. Initially, some will be locked. As the game progresses and you level up, these items will be unlocked and made available to you. The right side of the screen will let you know what is required for crafting that item. Sometimes, an item will be unlocked, but will bear a ? in one of the fields. That just means that the HOS or Zoom Zone (ZZ) in which this item is found has not been made available to you.

When you have found all the components and click on the “get” button, circles will pop out on each side of the item you are crafting. Most of the items displayed in these bonus circles are “eye candy.” The only bonus items you will receive are coins, pet food, stamp, crystal ball, wand, lightning flash, or diamond. The amount of coins you receive increases in increments of 3 coins as you level up in the game. On Level 5, your bonus coin bundle is 12 coins. Level 6 yields 15 coins; Level 7 yields 18 coins, etc. until at the current max Level of 84, you receive 249 coins in your bonus bundle.

(The crystal ball, wand, and lightning flash are considered HOS "hints." The crystal ball will show you the location of every item in the scene. The wand will collect all six of the items listed to find. The lightning flash will revert the scene back to "normal.")

If you want to know what components are needed to craft an item, you can check out the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/613455.page

If you want to know how many coins it costs to craft an item, but also how many coins you can get by selling the item (or how many shards you get by disenchanting an item), you can check out the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/369099.page

Also, on the left side, you will see another tab next to “Items” that will be a paw print. If you click on this tab, the pets available to be crafted will be displayed. As with the items, when you click on a particular pet, it will show you on the right side what components are necessary to craft that pet.

As stated earlier, Griffin (your first pet) is given to you at the beginning of Level 7. However, the remaining pets must be earned or crafted. So, not all pets are “crafted.” Most of the pet eggs come from the Fortune Wheel; friends can also gift one to you. But, you can get 4 of the pet eggs by completing a particular level of an achievement:

Egg for Flap-Eared Puppy -- Steer Clear, Level 2
Egg for Gold-Bearing Turtle -- Lucky One, Level 3
Egg for Hopping Tiger -- Dragon Fighter, Level 2
Egg for Pink Piggy -- Breadwinner, Level 2

Some have “eggs” and some do not. Some are regular/original pets, and some are seasonal pets. Also, there are 4 “exclusive” pets that become available when you reach Level 69 in the game. (These will be discussed when listing the character quests for that level.)

When you have crafted a pet, it will display on your “paw” icon of your inventory. You can “set” that pet to be the one you display in the lower left of your screen. When you feed your pet, you will receive a “goodie” chest. There are 5 types of chests:

Wooden – receive 3 items; coins are 50 per bundle
Iron/Bronze – receive 4 items; coins are 100 per bundle
Silver – receive 5 items; coins are 200 per bundle
Gold – receive 6 items; coins are 400 per bundle
Platinum/Blue – receive 10 items; coins are 200 per bundle (These are only from the Exclusive pets)

Contents of the chest will vary. I failed to document the exact update, but pet chests now bring HOS and ZZ items. So, you will want to feed your pet more frequently as you level up. Be advised that frequently relying on pet chests to get your items in the game can have a negative impact. By going into the HOS to get the items (and waiting for it to recharge), you will get airship items, pet food, and stamps. And if you also go into every other available HOS, the items build up quite nicely. Naturally, you need the pet food to feed the pets, but you also need an inordinate amount of the stamps to craft the various items.

After your pet has been fed, it will sleep…..the time varies for each pet. It is best to set/choose to display another pet immediately after you feed your pet. (Pets can be awakened for diamonds. It costs 1 diamond for each minute they sleep. So, if a pet sleeps for 1 hour, it would cost 60 diamonds to immediately awaken him/her. Many players have accidentally clicked on the sleeping pet. There is no pop-up asking if you want to awaken your pet….if you have the diamonds available, the pet is automatically awakened……and you are out bookoodles of diamonds for an errant click.)

For a listing of how to get any of the pets, you can go to the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/659152.page

If you want to know more about pets…..where to feed them….what type of chest they are likely to give….how long they sleep……what kind and how much food to feed them, then check out the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/404978.page

Reminder note: The Exclusive pets are explained in more detail in the questing list. There is a narrative at Level 69 to help explain some of the special things that happen in the game at that time.

The Inventory – This is where you can see what items you have in inventory. It has been divided into sections with a circle tab for each section. The current tabs we have are as follows:

Satchel – for HOS and ZZ items
Paw – for pets you have acquired
Stamps – stamps and thank you postcards ….. Your Gift for a Friend boxes will also be here
Lab beaker – crafted items
Eggs – pet eggs you have collected that you have not “hatched” yet
Blimp – airship items
Event – event items
Amulet – current amulets you have received

Most of the inventory is self-explanatory, except for one area of confusion. There are regular pet eggs – these will be on the “Egg” tab. However, any seasonal pet eggs will be on the “Event” tab because they are event specific. So, if you get a Fire Rooster egg or a Reindeer egg, you will find it in the event section of inventory.

The green, blue, red, and golden eggs that you see on the Events tab are “pet associated” eggs, but they are not pet eggs. When a pet requires this type of egg, it is in multiple amounts…..see Baby Boy, Baby Girl, Cook as examples. These eggs are explained in more detail in the Fortune Wheel section.

As an added note:
You will see Gift for a Friend boxes on your Stamp page of inventory. These boxes come randomly when completing an HOS. For many months, they had no value or use -- that changed when the Christmas private room was created. When you click on a friends' tree in their Christmas room, you get a popup telling you how many of the gift boxes you have and asking you if you want to leave one for your friend. Clicking yes will give that friend some random game item, will remove one gift box from your inventory, and you will receive a Santa Medallion as a thank you.

Friends – The friends aspect of the game is introduced at Level 6 when Just John shows up. Just John is a computer generated friend, not a “real” friend, hence the reason for his level being 121. You have 2 “slots” available to you for free to post items you hope your friends will gift to you. There are 2 other slots that you can open up for 5 diamonds each. It is to your advantage to spend the 5 diamonds on each of these slots so you can post more items and give friends more choices. When you receive a gift, the “mailman” icon will show up on the upper right portion of your screen to let you know that “you’ve got mail!”

A special thread has been created for getting friends on each of the 3 platforms. You can find these threads by clicking on the Helpful Links for Midnight Castle on the first page of the Forum….scroll down to the Friend section…..choose the link for your platform and post your in-game ID to this thread. You will get more invites than you care to accept!

You can gift up to 15 different friends each 24-hour day. There are 3 gifting time slots:

1 to 8 hours from the GMT day roll; 9 to 16 hours from the GMT day roll; 17 to 24 hours from your GMT day roll. Those actual times will vary depending on where you live. And, if you are in an area that observes “day light savings” time, or something similar, the local times for your gifting will change.

For instance, the gifting times for CST in the US are from:
6:00 pm to 1:59 am
2:00 am to 9:59 am
10:00 am to 5:59 pm.

However, when day light savings starts, the local gifting times change to 7:00 pm to 2:59 am; 3:00 am to 10:59 am; and 11:00 am to 6:59 pm.

You will notice that there are green and red indicators at the top left of each friend card. This indicates if a friend is active or inactive. This can be helpful in determining if you want to continue to gift this person. General info on sending/receiving friend requests:

1. If you send an invite to them, YOUR invite to them will be in your Invited folder.....ON THEIR SOCIAL PAGE, your invite to them will be in their New Requests folder until they either accept or decline.

2. If they decline, YOUR invite goes to THEIR Declined folder, but the invite remains in your Invited folder until you decide to remove it.

3. If they accept, their card goes to the back of your friends’ folder until their wish list is published by the server. They then go to their alphabetical place with your other cards.

4. If EITHER PLAYER then deletes the other one......the one who does the deleting will have the deleted player in their Declined folder........the one who was deleted will see the other player's card in their Invited folder. If you then remove it from your Invited folder, it will disappear from the declining friend's Declined folder. If you never delete your card from the Invited folder, your card will remain in the other player's Declined folder until BFG does their periodic clean up of that folder.

5. There is no way for a player to remove cards from their Declined folder except to accept them back as a friend (BFG periodically purges the contents of this folder).

There was a short, short period of time in the Fall of 2016 when in-game messaging was enabled for the PC players. For about 3 to 4 days, we were able to click on the green indicator…..get a pop-up box…..and be able to type a very short message to that player (it may have been all of about 50 characters at the maximum). However, several players were experiencing issues with the feature. The message had to be manually deleted. There were a few players whose message (meant for one friend) got sent to several other friends.

As a result, the feature was disabled and was not pushed out to iOS or to Android. Some day we hope to have that feature return as it was quite helpful. (Currently, the only way to contact a friend is through the forum PM capability, and not all players know about/participate in the forum.)

When you view a friend’s list, the items will display with the item that you have the most of on the far left side. If you select an item, you will get a pop-up telling you how many you have in inventory. It will also ask you if you want to gift this item to this friend. If you say yes, your inventory is reduced by one of those items and it is sent to that friend.

If a friend has an item on their wish list that shows up (to you) in red, that means you do not have any of this item in your inventory. Sometimes this will be a more senior player asking for an item that has not yet become available to you, or you might just not have any of this item in inventory. For many of the items, you can choose to either purchase that item with diamonds or coins. However, some items can only be purchased with diamonds – seasonal items and pet eggs are two of those type of items. .... Only items purchased with diamonds (not coins) count toward the Market Master achievement.

You may read in the forum about players “swapping” items. Some of the achievements require you to “get” a certain amount of an item. However, you do not necessarily need to have that many of the item in inventory. So, if I send you a snowflake, my inventory is reduced by one snowflake and you get credit for “getting” a snowflake in your achievement. If you send that snowflake back to me – then your inventory is reduced by 1 snowflake (but your achievement total remains the same) and my achievement is credited with getting 1 more snowflake. So, we can swap that same one snowflake back and forth many times until we each meet the achievement requirement.

Most players want to have more than Just John as a friend. As mentioned previously, the 3 platforms have different software structures, so they cannot communicate with each other. If you play on Android, your friends must also be on Android. If you want to play MC on both PC and iOS, then you will be playing 2 entirely different games – you cannot send gifts from PC to iOS or Android.

Player Profile and Achievements – Initially, you will be labeled as “player” by the game (in the upper left of the screen), and you will also have a white, faceless mannequin as your in-game avatar. You can create a more personal game name by clicking on this avatar and then clicking the pencil under the avatar (please be sure to backspace out “player” before you type your new game name).

While some players prefer to be "anonymous" by leaving "player" as their in-game name, please be advised that many senior players will not accept an invite from "player" because it is too labor intensive to monitor the game IDs to determine which "player" has sent a gift.

You can also click on the pencil next to the avatar to scroll through and select one if it is unlocked. (Currently, the first avatars to be unlocked are Gentleman and Lady. Both become available at Level 4.) Some of the avatars are “event specific.” So, if that event has concluded, those avatars may never be available to you. This is new/uncharted territory for many of us, so we are all just waiting to see if some of the Castle Challenge avatars will be “recycled.”

If you want to know when you can select a certain avatar (when it will be unlocked and available), you can find that information in the following thread: http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/603894.page

The Player Profile and Achievement section also shows your in-game player ID (My friend code), how much time you have spent playing the game, how many quests you have completed, how many HOSs you have completed, number of flowers collected, and (when events are current) how much time remains before the current event is concluded.

The right side of the page gives a list of any achievements that can be earned in the game. All of the achievements are listed on the following thread. (It lists each level requirement for all of the achievements, as well as the reward you will receive.):
