Is This Typical of Nancy Drew Games?

[Post New]by nixyseven on Oct 18, 08 6:29 AM
This is my first Nancy Drew game, because I never liked the idea of not getting a free trial.

The game was fun, the puzzles challenging (although I did have to look up some help on the net for a few of the weirder ones), but I was disappointed that it took me longer to download the game than it did to finish it!

The frass thing ws like having a part-time job. More busywork than actual challenge.

So to someone that has played other ND games, is this typical of the Nancy Drew games? I really expected more puzzles and a longer game overall.

If it is, I don't think I'll be downloading any more of them.

I thought Kapu cave was ok, but shorter than usual. I also did not like the frass puzzle.I have enjoyed tham all and just downloaded the new one. Looks like a whopper- took me an hour and I have cable.

Each Nancy Drew game has it's good and bad points. This one was not my favorite. I agree that there was too much busywork, not enough puzzles, and the game is too short. Short answer: NO. All Nancy Drew games are not like this. You'd enjoy Secret of the Old Clock, The White Wolf of Icicle Creek, or Haunting of Castle Malloy.

I too thought this was a little on the short side for a Nancy Drew. Was kinda bumbed that ended so quickly compared to some of the others I've played. Still a Drew fan though........

This wasn't the best ND game I've played. It was a little easy and a little short. (I didn't mind the frass busywork that much).

No, I wouldn't say this was typical.
I'm a 63-year-old male who got hooked on ND games a few months ago.
(I DON'T find that all that easy, have only played the Junior levels, and still have to use UHS at least a couple of times per game). But while I looked forward to this game, and think it COULD have been a very good game, it was somewhat disappointing. I agree with those who mentioned the "busy work" - I got so tired of looking for seashells and making necklaces to buy bait. And while I enjoyed the fishing aspect, it got to be busy work as well. Finding shells and catching fish wasn't at all difficult - just time-consuming. As for the frass, I had trouble with that, because I misidentified one plant. But even if I hadn't, I would have found it boring after awhile. So, no, this wasn't my favorite, and not exactly typical. Please don't judge all Nancy Drew games by this one. Try Curse of Blackmoor Manor (a favorite of most, it seems), and "Danger on Deception Island". Also try "Last Tarin to Blue Moon Canyon," which has what is by far my most favorite end game.
