recommendations for similar games...

[Post New]by heleanthia on Apr 16, 10 5:02 PM
This game looks fantastic but I am quite hesitant to get it, because I really don't like timed games.
I read that it is very similar to the two Agatha Christie games:"Peril at End House" and
"Death on the Nile"
Can anyone list their favourites of this type?
Thanks so much in advance.

I just read your post . I haven't tried Dr. Lynch yet, but if you like HOGs, you might try the Big City Adventures . They can be played timed or relaxed mode. There's no real storyline , just looking for hidden objects , with mini-games in between. Also , Yard Sale : Sunnyville and Yard Sale : Lucky Junction are fun. Two drawbacks : they're timed but not undoable , and they won't run in Windows 7.
Hope this gives you some possibilities . Will post again if I think of more recommendations .

thanks smb3411!

Gosh I sure sounded cranky, didn't I?
(Sorry everyone!)

I just LOVED Dr Lynch ..you might too!
PLUS today it is being offered for only 2.99!

The timer is very generous(better than the time alloted for each scene in the Agatha Christie ones, which games, coincidentially, were created by the same person!)

I appreciate your suggestions!

I really enjoy iHogs best(with interactive elements) rather than straight HOGS...

You're welcome! (you didn't sound TOO cranky )

If you like interactive HOGs, try Magic Encyclopedia .

HOG - Hidden Object Game

IHOG - Interactive Hidden Object Game

TM - Time Management Game

FROG - This term has just come about recently, and stands for FRagmented Object Game. Briar Rose would be a good example.

Pop-up Game - Games where you interact with objects via "pop-ups". You'll be required to find certain items and place them there to interact with these objects. A good example would be Treasure Seekers.

LF - Large File Game. These games usually don't have a demo, for the files are so big, it would eat up 's bandwidth. There are some exceptions, such as MCF: Dire Grove or HE: Devil's Triangle, but you're downloading the first chapter of the game, which will not necessarily last you a full hour.

MCF - Mystery Case Files
HE - Hidden Expedition
RTR - Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst

TGT - Tomorrow's Game Today
DD - Daily Deal

These three games are by the same game developer and have a similar game style.

James Patterson's Women's Murder Club: Death in Scarlet
James Patterson's Women's Murder Club: Twice in a Blue Moon
James Patterson Women's Murder Club: A Darker Shade of Grey

Also, Special Enquiry Detail: The Hand that Feeds has similar game play.

Good luck!

Hi heleanthia,

Just saw your note asking for favorite games fishies have in the HOG category.

I liked both of the Agatha Christie games you mentioned. ("Peril at End House" and "Death on the Nile"). I, too, feel they are similar to "Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets". Since you like that game, you would probably enjoy those Christie games also.

You said you also like IHOG's but you didn't say how difficult you prefer your games to be.

For IHOG's that are a bit easier than some, you might like the Samantha Swift games. And if you enjoy moderate to more difficult IHOG's, there are the Dream Chronicles games, the Treasure Seekers games, the Hidden Expedition games, the "Flux Family Secrets: The Ripple Effect" game and many others that are great.

Among the newer ones in the IHOG category, I especially liked "Love and Death: Bitten", "Echos of the Past: Royal House of Stone" and "Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose".

Hope these suggestions help.

Although they play through way too fast, I loved the Dream Chronicles - all three of them so far. Beautiful scenery and at least I can see the objects. lol.
