I was able to, the first time and then when I went to give the constellation to the Wizard the curtain was down already and he had disappeared. On the second and third go around is when I couldn't pick up the hour glass. In all three cases, the curtain was down anyway so I would never have been able to give it to him. Why does he disappear as soon as he has given the hourglass to me?
It seems from reading all these posts, that this game is too unstable for some of us. I just bought a new Vista with enough GB's and Ram and everything else works just fine. I have purchased over 30 games and all but this one, Magic Encyclopedia and Kuros have run without problems. The ones I mentioned all freeze in the same place regardless of what I do and how many attempts I have made. I am getting slightly frustrated with this problem and in the future, it may influence me in terms of whether I will choose to purchase any more games. That would be very sad indeed. A few days earlier I had purchased Princess Isabel and had no problems whatsoever. What is it about some games that create these problems????????
oh the tent flap is down, you need to change the scene to day for the magic merchant to appear. he only comes out in the day.

you need to put the enchanted hour glass on the star to slow down time. as for the Encyclopedia in the Magician's room I'm not sure what you mean.
Ah, sorry to misread. what do you mean by "the curtain falls down?" When you pick up the enchanted hour glass it should change into a large semi transparent circle. It won't look anything like icon in the inventory. I'm assuming nothing shows up though and the item doesn't darken in your inventory when you pick it up. Have you tried clicking on it and then clicking on the constellation? Even though it's not on the cursor it still might register the click and actually be on your cursor.
I'm still not sure what you mean by Magic encyclopedia though in the Magicians room. do you mean the cloud book in the tree house?

In the catwalk scene the back arrow location is a bit funky. It's not at the bottom of the screen but in the mid to lower left hand corner of the screen. You'll see a rope hanging down, it's the same rope you climbed up to get into the scene.

Hmm, this is odd. are you able to navigate anywhere after the dragon fire occurs? You should be forced out of the painting and see an animation of fire melting the griffin in the center. After the animation occurs you should be able to navigate as normal.

Change RenderingDriver=DIRECT3D to RenderingDriver=DIRECT3D7
This will force the game to run in Directx7 and see if this fixes the blue screen crash.
If it doesn't try changing it to

By default, On vista the path is C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Big Fish Games\Drawn
Make sure you change Peter to your current user name.
This isn't the case if %appdata% is changed on your machine. you should be able to copy and paste %appData%\Big Fish Games\Drawn directly into the file path in windows explorer, note not internet explorer.

Peter thank you. When I posted I was answering a query from someone earlier in the thread that asked if they'd gotten a response from tech. AFTER I posted that I continued reading and saw that a developer had arrived and was answering questions, You. I went back and edited my post to take out the 'snark' and say thanks.
My problem had been that the standard cursor would not change to the 'go forward' cursor after opening the cloud door. I tried exiting game, re-entering. Exiting, rebooting, re-entering. Uninstall, reboot, reinstall. I even tried a system restore to an earlier point after uninstalling.
My system is WinXP
2.8 GHZ
916 Mgs Ram
Directx 9
After getting no response from writing (that is not a criticism, i know they are snowed), my last ditch effort was a new profile name and start over. At that point it did work, albeit slowly and with some stuttering in dialogue.
However that being said, once I go further into the game the stuttering stopped and very weirdly, the further I got into the game, the faster it loaded from painting to painting. I have to say though that I was afraid to close it in case it hung again, and I loved it so much I just kept playing until 4am.
It really is a magnificent game.
Thank you for your patients. The reason it stutters when you first start up the game is because we try to background load as much of the next zone as possible, this takes some processing time away from the actual game so there are some performance degradations while this occurs. This is to try to reduce as much waiting time as possible between each zone.
As for your specific issue, disappearing cursors seem to be a recurring issue on just some machines and is very hard to track down. it is a bug in the game and not your computer. Unfortunately there really isn't a simple solution to fix except to give you a new profile if this happens every time.
I've uploaded a new profile here
http://rapidshare.com/files/276520140/Chapter1Snapshot.zip.html
I'm not sure how tech savy you are, but you'll need to go to
%appData%\Big Fish Games\Drawn\profile
select your profile name in the folder list and unzip the entire zip file into that folder and overwrite everything. This may be a bit daunting for people who aren't tech savy though.
I'm sorry there isn't a better solutions right now. I know how eager people are to play it.

Though the game does not appear to of crashed if it did wouldn't the game stop? the game still seems to be functioning can hear the music & am able to move my cursor around but the cursor does not change to downward cursor which I think it needs to then you are suppose to click at bottom of screen 4 times but my cursor stays as regular cusor and the scene remains does not freeze but continues to do nothing. I would really appreciate some feed back if anyone has had this problem & has solved the dilemma can you please reply. I have never had any technical problems before with BF games & have basically just begun this wonderful journey it would be a shame to have to stop playing.
unfortunately this is a bug in the game that happen only on certain peoples machines, There is no quick fix except to bypass it by replacing your profile or maybe starting over from a new profile, but starting over may not fix the issue.

Has anyone who sent an email to Tech Support received an actual answer and a resolution to the problem other than just a form response?
No, no response. But in all fairness my auto response form said that response time was currently running at about 48 hours and for me it's only been 38 hours so far. Plus it's a holiday weekend and while someone said their tech is 24/7 they may have a less than full tech crew. I won't fault them for taking days off. Tech is a stressful job.
What I AM tweaked at is that a mod stated that tech support does not read the tech threads here, which is why we evidently keep getting the canned post to go to the help page, which most of us have already done.
So if anyone here has not written to tech and is waiting patiently for a response here, it is apparently a waste of time. :\ (and makes me wonder what this thread if for in the first place)
Big "tsk"
tuez
They're actually pretty back logged over in Customer Support since it's a holiday weekend and an internal studios was just released. They're a very dedicated team and are working through the long weekend to try to resolve as many issues as possible.
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems though. Drawn has been the testing bed for a lot of new things and there are bound to be problems with it. We're trying to push the envelope and because of that our minimum spec as taken quite a jump over other casual games. We realize that not everyone has a 10Ghz computer with massive amounts of RAM but to accomplish some of the things we wanted to do we needed to push it up a bit, this is why some people with older machines have had longer then normal loading times between scenes. I'm not sure why it would hang at the cloud door though, does it just show the loading screen with the sun rotating? or is it just black? If it's the rotating sun that it's loading the next zone and you need to be patient... on a very old machine this could take a few minutes, it's surprising to me that it takes 2 mins to go in and out of the farm painting though. what are your system specs?

unfortunately the only fix i can think of it to talk to the witch doctor. after his dialog he should restore the back arrow to exit out of the painting. if that doesn't work there's not much else we can do =( I might be able to send you a new profile other wise you'd need to start over. I'm sorry.

To anyone who are having blue screen issues when entering the tower or entering a painting. The issue maybe linked to directx or your graphics drivers. This may not work on all cases but hit
start->Run and type in %appData%\Big Fish Games\Drawn
open up the GameSettings.ini file
Change RenderingDriver=DIRECT3D to RenderingDriver=DIRECT3D7
This will force the game to run in Directx7 and see if this fixes the blue screen crash.
If it doesn't try changing it to
RenderingDriver=OPENGL
If these don't work I'm not sure what the solution is. It's definitely a hardware compatibility issue and there's something funky with either the installation of directx or the version of the graphics drivers on your computer.
As for disappearing arrows in the witch doctor scene, this seems to be a rare random bug that happens, we haven't been able to track it down yet. But if you're ever stuck in a scene without a back arrow where it should be and there's a character on screen talk to them. They should restore that arrow back. If you're still stuck I'm sorry to say but you may have to restart your profile. Make sure you're not overlooking where the exits are though, in paintings they're mostly located at the bottom of the screen. In the tower they can be almost anywhere.
Also if you're having problems with performance, The game runs better in windowed mode then it does in full screen.
I hope this helps with technical issues.
If anyone has any other questions don't hesitate to PM me, I'm one of the developers for the game and I won't have all the answers but I will try to resolve your problems as soon as I can. I'm sorry for any headaches we may have caused and hope you all can enjoy the game as much as we had creating it.
