The most likely solution is to clear your browser cache. Our site is set to cache pages and images on a daily basis, so if you got a bad file it will stay that way until you clear your cache.
Here are instructions...it is pretty easy and quick.

Yikes. Way behind in development. It looks like the release will be slipped out until January 2010.

There is currently a weekly "Game Splash Mac Edition" and next week we are adding the ability to sign up for the Daily Game Splash Mac Edition on the Mac New Release Calendar. The daily newsletter will list the daily deal and the TGT and new game. We do not get enough games from developers for a new game every day (yet) but there will be a daily deal every day.

We release the PC version when it is completed. These games are VERY expensive and the sales of the PC version subsidize the Mac version. We do not hold content back, we release it as soon as we are able. Keep in mind between 5 languages, online, PC and Mac games, we release 40 to 45 new games every week! Every game has to be tested, secured, web site assets created (videos, images, descriptions) and then released...pretty daunting if you do the math!

As of next week Mac customers will have everything that is offered for PC users (from a website and promotional standpoint) but content will still come a bit slower both from BFG and other developers as, well, it takes time to create them and not all developers do. if you all buy 10 games a month, every month we will convince developers to make more mac games! (Kidding ).

BTW about 20% of BFG employees use Macs I do not as I am afraid to have to relearn how to use a computer.

We will have it for the Mac, but we have to port the PC game to Mac and are just now finalizing the PC version. Our development platform does not support Mac natively and there is a 3-6 week effort to port it.

There will be a BIG surprise for Mac users next week to make up for it though!

What makes a game that no one has played a "collector's item"? I doubt this will be the case but what if the game turns out to be a dog that most of us dislike.
There is a fairly large contingent of members disappointed in Devil's triangle and that game was hugely anticipated.

I would prefer purchasing the $6.99 version and then if the game is as terrific as I hope it will be, have the option of upgrading to the $19.95 version by paying the extra $13 if that is possible.

That's a great idea Poppa47. Not an easy thing to do and I cannot promise soon it but it makes a lot of sense once we can engineer that functionality!

I will make it happen (wow...see what persuasive powers you have! )

However... I do understand that not everyone is lucky enough to have the higher price available right now, so it would be terribly frustrating to have paid-for game credits and still not be able to get Dire Grove early.

We would have allowed credits but there was a technical reason. We only release a new Game Manager every 4 to 6 months and currently the game manager is "hard wired" with logic that says 1 credit = 1 game. This is also one of the reasons we could not offer a trial version of CE.

If we do another CE version and have a new Game Manager released, we will enable both a trial version of the CE so you can evaluate the "extras" AND allow people to use credits like currency (1 credit = $6.99) to buy them.

p.s. The raw "just off the developer's machine" version I played was given to me with the caveat "it might work, we are just starting to test it now". I played for 7 hours and 45 minutes at a pretty decent pace...and then it crashed and I will have to start over OMG! They will work out the kinks before the 25th...but I soooooo wanted to finish it last weekend...I still do not know how it ends and do not want to find out until I play it.

Purplerabbit wrote:I'm sorry Laflamme, any way you put it I can not agree with you. The extras are all extra. Like I said, it is like a "Director's Cut". To not have them in the standard game is not taking anything anyway or you would not be able to complete it. To have them is just bonus material.

I can confirm that the extra bonus gameplay is exactly that...extra. The $6.99 will be the complete story, we did not cut anything and it will not mention or try to sell you on the Collector's Edition. The bonus game play and levels in the CE version unlock MCF secrets unrelated to Dire Grove ("Excuse me, Charles did WHAT? Wait...is someone following me??? ) and are things that MCF fans will love, but do not add to the mystery at Dire Grove.

I got a few PMs today so I thought I would answer a few of the questions. This is in regards to the Collector's Edition:
1) It is a game download (with an optional CD for the normal CD price) and is a 350MB download after you buy it.
2) It is a final and complete and thoroughly tested version, not a beta.
3) It will be a permanent product, available for purchase even after the normal game is launched in early December.
4) The newest video (longer with lots of game play footage) in the "more info" section of mysterycasefiles.com is the best place to learn about what makes the Collector's Edition special.
5) All purchased games count towards Novemberfest (100% off coupons, $2.99 games, Game Club Credit redemption for a game, Collector's Edition, etc.)

We do not have an exact date for the normal version at the normal price and a free trial version, but it will definitely be before the xmas (or other) winter holidays, thus the "early" December date as opposed to "late" December.

Hope that helps!

guylee1 wrote:Will the special edition be downloadable like every other game or do we have to wait to recieve it in the mail on a CD?

It will be downloadable and a CD is optional as always. There is not a demo of the Collector's Edition, just a buy full version only option. Once purchased, the download is about 350MB. (The main reason there is not a demo, as with our traffic, downloading 350MB to several hundred thousand people would be very scary for our IT folks )

A "little bird" told me there may be a special "Big Fish Game Club Collector's Edition" version of this game out in time for Thanksgiving ...more details should be coming tomorrow on the BFG Blog.

Does this mean the latest Bookworm Adventures is on the way?

It's been out on other sites for months now and I'm jonesing for a new word game.

Hmm... Not sure. While we work well with Popcap, they currently only offer the game at $20 to protect their retail sales. They offered the game to BFG in 1/3 increments to use at normal prices, but we declined as we thought it would be confusing to users who were expecting the full game.

Agghhhhh.....
After 7 hours and 44 minutes a fatal crash...and will not be able to complete the game. I estimate I am 1/2 to 2/3 through the game. I am not slow, but also not speedy.

Please...let's all shed a tear for me...what could be worse.

Am I allowed to post the screenshots to a public website and share the link? I don't think I can post the link here but can I give it to fishies who PM me?

Not sure of the BF rules here but it's not fair that some fishies can't see what we're looking at...

Feel free to re-post my photos if is just for personal use to show other fishies here, not commercial purposes (i.e. you are a game reviews site making money off ads or something).

This is new to BFG. The other publisher had a 1 year exclusive on this game...it was a great game so it would be a shame not to introduce it to those who have never played it. The sequel is in the works and it will be on BFG first as an exclusive.
